i have a really low level of confidence in myself particularly when it comes to approaching women on nights out etc. im terrified of rejection which doesnt help and sometimes find myself getting depressed if i get rejected a number of times in a night. i find that i have to have a fair few drinks before i feel confident enough.
    please help!

That right there might be a part of the problem.

If I were female, some drunk guy coming over to talk to me would raise the barriers quicker than almost anything else. And when the mental barriers are raised .....they're up for good. It'd take a miracle to get them down again.

Stay sober, and when you approach a girl, make a casual, natural sounding comment or ask a question. Don't use pickup lines - no matter how funny or original you might think they are, they aren't, and she's probably heard them a million times. Humour is your friend in these cases. Be a teeny bit cocky, and use humour. And don't be afraid of rejection - you may never see her again, so who cares if she says no thanks ? Just accept it gracefully, and move on. And most importantly, enjoy yourself.
