Probably the dumbest question ever asked in here but:

Is it possible to pick up/subscribe to Sky in the U.S.?

No. You probably wouldn't be able to see the satellite from that side of the world.

No but do you mean long term or short term? If short term then a slingbox or whatever they are called will do. It will send your sky over the internet so you can get it anywhere in the world. Quality will be obviously compressed to interent quality but if you are just worried about missing some shows it will do.

If long term then why would you want to? I mean US TV sucks, an ad every 3 mins but its got a lot of the same shows.

I am over in Austin, TX at the moment and I watched Ireland V Slovakia with Sky Sports commentary and logos.

It was Setanta America ,who were distributing it. Think it was a PPV event and what they called Closed Circuit over here.

So you can kind of get it over here :)

Is there anyway you can get the Irish Channels and the British Channels over there too?
Because U.S. TV is so crap!

I think it would in theory be possible if you were willing to pay through the nose for it.
You would need to get it uploaded from a euro satellite to US.
Not sure of how it works but the pub i watched the match in had to get satellite fixed to pick up the feed , they said they had not used it in 3 years.
Going to check out the Liverpool PSV match this week and see what they do for it.

For UK tv check out http://www.tv-links.co.uk/ got loads of shows online

It expressly breaks your Sky Subscription T&C to feed it outside your house. They would be entitled to kill your viewing card.

Setanta have North American rights for the game and they just buy the produced package off Sky and rebroadcast into America from Dublin - Sky graphics and all.
