Would like to ask anyone out there. What in their opinion is the best way to build up your self esteem. I find it difficult to deal with the "haters" on a day to day basis. If someone makes a negative comment to me I can obsess about it for hours. I feel if I was able to build up my self esteem I wouldn't have such issues. Thanks

I know it sounds twee but do something that scares you ..

Had situations with various issues/people in my life reach a point where i felt everyone thought i was rubbish at my job.. being a parent etc .. its a trick of the brain to re-educate yourself into thinking otherwise but you have to kickstart the process ..

If you were a girl i would say take a bellydancing class NOW !!! :) A friend of mine recommended it and after seeing the change in her confidence i took a class and it is nothing short of brilliant if u have self esteem issues as a woman!
If you r a guy ... well then same thing just maybe something else..

    Best of luck !

My own self-esteem levels leave a lot to be desired at best, but I'm learning. A few years ago, I got up on stage in a club and had a go at pole dancing. Best thing I ever did, best I ever felt about myself.

Think of self-esteem as a great outfit, put it on, and walk out the door with your head held as high as you can (mind you don't get a sore neck!:)) A person with a little confidence in themselves is sexy, and that applies to both males and females! :)

Exercise is a fantastic way to help your self-esteem - also it will give you something else to focus on besides obsessing over others' comments.'

Drama workshops. Really, I wished I tried it when I was in my early teens. Changed my whole outlook and brought out my personality and made me pretty fearless. Tons of fun and I made great new friends.

I was going to post the very same thing. Do something that scares you, but you know is not obviously going to harm you (ie, dont stick your hand in a blender :D ) and you'll find the daily problems that come your way will not faze you anymore ;)

Thanks for the idea's. I have been looking into C.B.T. just recently and I am finding it a great help. I think I will try to do something that scares me,... those ideas sounded great.

These ideas are ok - but if ya wana feel good change your image, buy new clothes find a new idenity that suits. Self-esteem issues arise from you feeling poor and bored about yourself do something you always wanted to do get out and do things or make new friends - this does work!!
