System stand by - will not work for any longer duration than 1 minute

When I select stand by after one minute in Power options it works fine i.e. it goes into stand by mode after one minute of inactivity but if I select a longer period than that it won't work. I've tried deselecting all in the start up menu but this has made no difference - any ideas? Thanks in advance.

In the other power options , are turn off hard disks,turn off monitor etc all still set to 1 minute or are you changing them to the same time period as hibernation is set to? Just a thought...
