Do you close (or even lock?) the door if alone?

Yup, it's about time another toilet thread graced AH.

Was pondering this one today. Have the gaff all to meself and needed to drop the kids at the pool. I went in, settled myself down but never closed the door! The humanity! I guess most of the time I'd just do it from force of habit, but the bathroom door was wide open today, should anyone decide to break in and make a run for the bathroom themselves (sometimes robbers gotta go?), I'd happily greet them with a "sorry buddy, gizza few mins....ta".

So, if you have your place all to yourself, do you leave the lavatorium door open, or do you close it? Do you even go so far to lock it for personal security??

Closed and locked. Don't want people barging in when I'm distributing waste.

Closed and locked if I'm not sure when my flatmate will be home. Just kind of pushed closed if I know she's not going to be back that day.

Lock it cos the door won't stay shut otherwise.

Why the hell did I reply to this poll?

Have the door half open, just in case I hear someone come in and then I can kick it closed (with a slight amount of acrobatics) :)

Leave it open unless I have reason to believe someone will be home soon.

Lock it from force of habit tbh. You never know when someone's going to be home and it's a long way from the bowl to the door.

leave it ajar so if anyone breaks in they can have a peak if they like.

Sure I don't mind leaving my laundry out to dry in the hall; I usually end up never putting it away and have to dress in front of the window :p

Same here. Burgulars nowadays have a tough enough time trying to steal stuff, without the added problem of locked doors.

    Why close it?

Generally I lock my bedroom door, when I'm there or when I'm not there.
    Keeps out, burgulars, housemates etc.
    Security basically.

Edit: Oooooohhh toilet door. Yeah lock all the time.
OOPS, sorry about not read thread properly.

    Evenin' all.

Personally I would close the door , if only to enhance the accoustics.

Y'see, good muzzle velocity and torque is kinda lost on the ..erm.. well .. muzzelee ,if the report and aftershock is dissipated around your casa.
Much better and more satisfactory to keep it in house as it were, and savour the reverberations in a more confined space.

I do however favour evacuating the area fairly sharpish after the fallout as there can be some nasty contamination of the non solid areas.

Otherwise I leave the door open, but shut the blind on the front left top window.

Thanks for the heads up Roundy

    You sh*te in your bedroom?
    That's refreshingly erm...honest.

Someone didn't read the thread before posting...

I only close and lock public lavatory doors, or the ones in my own place if I have family/company over. Incidentally I never lock it if I'm in the shower/bath just in case I should ever happen to slip. fall and break something or spilt my skull...hate to survive that accident only to be killed by some paramedic kicking the door in on top of me.
Come to think of it you could topple off the throne in a similar manner so perhpas it's best to just not lock the door at all and suffer the possible embarassment of someone walking in on you...
