Hi, I am hoping someone out there may have come across something like this before and might be able to give me suggestions. Sorry if this is in the wrong section I was not sure where best to post this.

I have a hand in looking after servers where I work and recently we upgraded a virtual machine from windows 2000 to windows 2003 - this machine hosts a website accessed by our salespeople (really basic site, just text on a white background to minimise bandwith). anyway, since the OS migration the font size on this site is bigger, nothing else has changed and the site still works and all, its just that the font size seems larger! this server also hosts an intranet page and it is completely unaffected if that gives any useful info.

Would anyone have any ideas why this would’ve happened or what i could do to set it right again? All that was done was to upgrade the OS so i don’t see why this should have this effect (this upgrade would have upgraded IIS but then again the intranet page was not effected). I can change the settings on the client machine browsers to view text size as 'smaller' and it makes the website look OK again but I don’t want to have to do this on every machine that accesses this site, not to mention that this would make the font on every other site viewed in the browser look too small.

a strange one - any ideas or suggestion that might help me out?

Can you not edit the text size locally ?

    Thanks for the responses.

Anti - I can change the text size from medium to smaller and this does seem to solve the problem, I was just hoping to avoid this as there are 100's of machines that this would need to be done on, and 100's of users who would struggle with even this simple instruction. I am more wondering what would have caused font size that was looking OK at text size medium to suddenly have to be set at text size smaller in order to look the same? just from changing from Win2000 -> win2003

Khannie, I am using IE6 & 7. good tip, i didnt know about the 'ctrl & -'. I would still hope to not have to change anything local on the machines as the change was caused at the server so i am hoping the fix can be implemented at the server to avoid having to alter 100s of machines.

thanks for the feedback anyway guys

Are you sure there was no accidental alteration by anyone of the source files? It doesn't make sense to me how one would be served properly and another not in such a way without there being a source change. Older/malformed CSS?
