First didn't come with a hdmi cable, why ?

The controller has no weight to it which makes it feel really cheap.

The ps3 store looks like a really rubbish website.

The menu from the psp dosnt really look good on a big tv.

Downloads dont resume which is something thats really annoying plus you have to just look at it while it downloads.

And if they wanted to pimp blueray why was there no sample movie with it ?

These are my feelings and ive only had it opened an hour but im already starting to think I wasted my money.

Well id imagine that download issue will get fixed in time, i remember the 360 had the same problem till around summer 06.
But also like the 360 id say the ps3 will not truely shine till atleast another 6 months when some big named games start appearing.

I assume you mean the PS3 menu doesn't look well on the PSP screen....
Referring to the remote play function..
or are you referring to the use of the XMB ?
Personally I much prefer it......simplistic, minimalist, professional looking compared to the clunky blades system of the 360..

The fact that a HDMI cable wasn't included is well known since launch........so if you're using the included composite cable, its going to look crap..

You've only given it an hour and already passed judgement?
Have you not tried any games or imported any Blu-rays (no "e" by the way) ?......curious..
The PS3 is essentially the best BD player on the market at the moment.......that in itself makes the price tag work for me, although I cannot speak for people who want a pure games machine....For people who do not want Blu-ray functionality, the price will seem extortionate next to the 360..

The PS Network is still in its infancy so the likes of the background downloading will arrive (probably later this month).......and content at the moment isn't too bad in all fairness..
But it does lack the functionality of the Live system at the moment..

because that adds more cost to an already costly machine. plus, not everyone has a HD-ready tv, so composite is the best option to pack in.

agree'd, but hopefully after e3 we'll have the new sixaxis with vibe.

these issues will be solved in the march 23rd patch, a fact known for about 2 months now. microsoft had the same issue in xbox lives infancy.

the first 100,000 ps3 owners in europe will be eligable to apply for a copy of some movie (forgot which one we get). in america a similar deal was done for talladega nights. also, i'm sure the online network has some sort of trailer reel on it. if not, you've got a standard hard-drive there, you can easily "acquire" a hd movie and give it a bash...

you have it an hour, feel you've wasted your money but have yet to mention the core factor - games.

you've moaned about the fact that it comes with no cable for YOUR tv, despite the fact that HD tv penetration is nowhere near a level that its a warranted addition to the box, the controller & download things... which were known, and you seriously couldn't have not known about the light controller and download issue before purchasing & then complained about the fact that they didn't give you a free movie. have you ever bought a new media device and gotten a free movie?

what games did you get, how do they look/feel? is the lack of feedback from the controller hindering gameplay? is the machine quiet? does it look sexy under a tv? is it easy to use? is it easy to get online to play games? have you bought any of the online games yet? are they good?

Well at least you've actually seen one in person, which is more than most people slating it.

Casino Royale . (Which i'd much rather have than Talladega nights myself)
I thought it was more than 100,000 copies though.

Theres no way you can defend the lack of even a component cable with the PS3. HDTV penetration is much higher in the US and I'd assume people with a HDTV would be the people more likely to buy a PS3.

Not trying to defend Sony's decision not to include a HDMI cable as I believe they should have,
    but I can understand it.
The inclusion of HD cables with consoles is a very unusual practice, don't forget only the Premium 360 came with component cables, Core owners were forced to buy one. Now obviously price is a factor, and anyone shelling out €600+ would probably expect everything they need to enjoy their expensive console........especially considering MS included a Component cable with the €400+ 360. The price has been discussed ad nauseum and its reasons (BD drive, HDD etc..)..
But Sony have always gone for the base option with their machines and composite still represents the basic input worldwide. They are not going to include two cables to cover all potential owners and drive up costs (despite a €5-10 HDMI tag).

Take the example of the recently released E1 and XE1 HD-DVD players from Toshiba.....€650-€950 machines with NO HDMI cable included (unless you buy directly from Tosh website)

Even Sega came under fire years ago with the PAL Saturn launch when they only included an RGB Scart cable, immediately forcing the majority of new owners to purchase basic composite cables......it was still a "bedroom" machine, with most young owners not having access to Scart displays.
Sony on the other hand, took the composite route with the PS1 and have stayed with it ever since.

Don't forget, any PS2 owners with Component cables can simply use them, and I assume the same is true with the RGB and S-Video cable (haven't tried this myself).
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there will be a few annoyed people when they open their boxes later in the month, but hopefully they'll read the contents before going home

I think the original press release was 500,000 alright......enough to cover the launch window for Europe
