Buy a landrover freelander... what to look out for

Hi,

I am going to look at a landrover freelander this weekend (04 TDI 3DR).
Just wondering, If any one could give me advice on what to look out for under the hood, i.e. any tell tale signs for a leak sump.

Well, you could look for the woeful reliability, or you could stand, look at one for 5 mins and marvel as it depreciates before you. One of the cars we all freak out about when we see it coming as a trade in here - the trade buyers we usually use just won't value them.

My mother had a '00 Freelander. I found it very uncomfortable. Not the best on fuel. Loads of little problems.
Never again.
My father bought it for my mother without test driving it. A few months later he needed to drive it a few times and sold it not long after
