Alright alright, you don't all need to post with 'broken ankle??' or 'sick dog??' or 'Kite stuck in eye??'.

Also are there any other websites like maybefriends out there? Ones I don't have to pay for?

Perhaps try and get in contact with your old school pals? There are a couple of good sites for doing so. Lostschoolfriends.ie is one that I can think of right now.

Maymay, go to the next boards beers.
You don't even have to drink. There are plenty of people who attend and don't drink. (not me)

    Oh yeah: A/S/L? :)

    Just Kidding.

If you like animals theres a great bunch of people out there, and a great forum. Dunno if i can post a linky here but they have nights out and most if not all become friends.

If you're interested in politics, joining a political party is a good way of making friends.

MayMay... How about joining a community theatre? They are loads of fun. And if you don't want to audition, then check out what else they need to put on a production. Let your creative spirits loose! If anything, the cast parties are a blast, and you don't have to be in the cast to have fun at them, just a member of theatre.

Hmm, I don't have a huge circle of friends, but I have a close circle of about 10-15 people that I see regularly or every month. I'd rather have a small circle of friends that are close to me than have about 50 friends that I only know from drunken nights.

But I'd say the best way to make friends is to join social clubs relevant to your interests. Go to local pubs, become a known face. Always keep in touch with ANY friends you have, you'll find you wont know the person you knew a few month ago.

I see what you mean. I'm a girl, and I'm telling you, come to the boards beers.
    You're a girl?

I'm almost as confused now as when Tar told me he/she was a man/woman. I think he doesn't even knows himself :D

I'd agree with that, 1 of my biggest flaws is I never organise anything, nights out etc. I just have this mind set that people will not want to do something or will always be busy so I never bother which means many a night spent in.
Tonight I was actually out as I was attending a birthday party from someone in work but if that wasn't organised I would have stayed in.
The worst part is I know it's illogical and i know it's stupid yet I still do it or don't do it as case is.

Yep, I've been reluctant to do that also, being nervous of the outcome, but it's always been ok if you bring the right people.

    OP: If you're attractive, I'll happily be your friend...if you're not...well...
But seriously, its easy to meet people in this country, you've just got to take up an activity that interests you. Theres loads of different clubs, socs etc. around the country and throughout Dublin, just join one of them and you'll be flying. Apparently, athletics clubs are a fantastic way to meet people, despite the fact that you're running the whole time.

Ye can laugh but Macra na Feirme is brilliant craic...it's just one big pis.s up if that's what you're in to and if not there's also loads of Drama, activities, paintballing, sports, weekends and trips away and loads of other organised events...the whole notion of it being for farmers is long gone....and there's one in Dublin that's pretty big. I joined one in Cork years ago and now about to join one in Kildare and it's the best thing I've done in ages, it's great craic.

Wait like a lion in the bushes and pounce on the weak and slow when they stumble out of the pub. Surely they will be your friends. If not, well, you can always roll them for small change.
