Need to register today to be eligible for a ticket.

you need to submit a picture which is printed on your ticket - so you cant sell them on. crazy...

It's not crazy considering they are sold on for THOUSANDS of pounds. What's the big deal? It takes two minutes to fill in your name and address and upload a photo.

And the pre-registration is open until the end of February - you do not *have to register today*.

Also i know why you need the pic etc, but its just a bit weird that you'll have a picture of yourself on the ticket.

i think its a great policy, sure its probably bringing us closer to "big brother" style future where pictures and ID is on everything but it also brings us realistically closer to ensure genuine music fans get a realistic chance of going to the show.
i also think its great idea that you have until the end of feb to register as i havent got a picture today

But no one would ever have guessed that Glastonbury would be the first even to some up with this system though.

Have to get myself a mug shot done tommorow though, and then hope for some good luck on ticket day.

I dont know whats better about this system.. that some people get freaked out about privacy concerns and refuse to use it therefore freeing up tickets for more saner folk or the fact that it stops touts.

I think anyone who is worried about the photo id aspect somehow being used in a Big Brother way is deluded. Have you seen the level of correlation between the appearance of the average music festival goers? They'll get 100,000 pictures of mildly studenty,artsy,hippieish folk. They all look like Jay and Silent Bob... both of them.. simultaneously.

If they were smart, Ticketmaster would have implemented a similar (international) system with a "no id, no ticket" rule years ago and let them keep a central db of gig-goers.

true, they already have an account where you no longer need to type in your credit card details address etc, and your names actually do be printed on tickets (im nearly sure)
im sure it wouldnt take alot to go that one step further and photo id the tickets or have a ticketmaster ID card or something with a corresponding barcode.........i dunno maybe im getting carried away here!!

While I'm in favour of any anti-tout system they bring in, I could see it causing problems for this to apply to all gigs. Festivals usually involve packing, travelling etc. People invest a lot in them and aren't that likely to change their minds or decide to go to something else that weekend instead of it. But people are always selling tickets to gigs, or giving them to friends if it's someone they know's birthday the same day or somesuch. They'd need to have some way of transferring the ticket over to someone else. Which would pretty much make it useless...

A few of us are interested in heading over for this if we get tickets (unlikely I know!), but it seems that everyone has to register individually.

Is there any way to register as a group of three so that either we all get tickets or no-one does?

It'd be a complete balls if only one or two of us got a non-tranferable ticket!

Has anyone any idea of a way around this?

Just searching through the boards over on the Glastonbury site but I cant find an answer to this question.

Only 2 registered persons per booking

There is (or at least been) an option to cancel tickets up to mid May - so you could bail out then.

After that no refunds / exchanges or transfers are allowed.

iirc you can send the ticket back for refund.

I think it's a great idea, a lot of the Glasto profits go to charity and it must sicken them to see tickets selling for thousands of pounds on ebay, money that should be going to a good cause.

Last year you could still cancel the tickets up to the end of May, there was then a small resale that happened shortly after that again to offload the last few tickets.

For us foreigners though you'll never actually see your ticket until the day that you arrive as they don't send them out to non UK addresses any more so you'll only actually get you hands on the ticket once you've picked it up from Shepton Mallet.

Every person that wants to go has to get a pre-registration number. Each order that is place on ticket day though can be for 2 people so if you do get through then you at least won't be totally alone. If it is a family booking then you can order another 2 tickets for under 16's at the same time. Only credit cards will be allowed to be used for making bookings for non UK orders and it cannot be a UK bank credit card, only UK debit cards can be used for UK orders. Only one order (for 2 tickets, or 4 if there are under 16's in the party) can be made with each card.

It's actually a step away from "big brother" surveilance when compared to last year. You don't need any ID besides your ticket and I know some of the waning number of hardcore crustys were unhappy about the prospect of getting a national ID card last year.

Your details don't even have to be accurate. You could call yourself "Dr. Boba Fett III" and it wouldn't matter as long as it was you in the photo.

Do they not expect the same person as that registered to purchase the ticket as well? If Dr Boba Fett III was the registered individual could Mr Richard Thimpson purchase a ticket with his cr card for this Dr Boba Fett III ????

Messed up if you can't.

But it would be great if you could, the amount of cool and imaginative names would be worth working on the turnstlyes for.

Ignore my previous about the limit of two tickets per card as it now seems that they are increasing this limit to 4 per card regardless of if two of the people are under 16 or not. Good news for people wanting to go as a group, bad news for whoever places the booking for your group though as they will be taking a hit of £600 until they get the cash back from their mates.

Ok Scratch my comment that you can only buy 2 tickets per transaction - its just gone up to 4

Michael Eavis has issued the following statement:-

“This year, because of the new registration system, and in response to many requests, I am pleased to announce that when tickets go on sale on 1st April, it will be possible to buy up to four tickets in a single transaction.

Not only will this be more convenient for families and groups, but it should vastly reduce the number of cars coming to the farm.”

It will possibly be easier this year to get tickets, and even more so now that they have this 4 tickets per transaction change as well. There will be less people trying to access the ticket servers this year as people who have not pre-registered don't stand a chance anyway and if more people are buying 4 at a time then that will reduce the load as well.

Yes, every person going will need to get a registration number. Those numbers will then be used during the actual ticket buying process.

I'm as anti tout as they come, but I don't like this

i was meant to be going to a gig with my little brother last weekend, but he got the flu and couldn't come, so i sold his ticket at just under face value to someone who wanted a ticket at the venue (not a tout)
If honest people can't do that or pass on a ticket to a mate for a surprise birthday present or whatever at the last minute, it's not fair, **** does happen.

Of course you can. Sure look at all the parents who's credit cards will be used to purchase tickets for their kids and their kid's friends.

deaddonkey, Yes, shit does very much happen. I'm pretty sure though that if these measures weren't put in there'd most likely be more people already cancelled tickets than people who can't attend due to illness. If they accepted returns closer to the festival date, or even up to the day of the festival that would be solved.

We'll have to wait and see what the policy on returns will be this year.

agree 100% deaddonkey this has happend to me a lot.
Theres nothing like walking up to a tout thats trying to flog a ticket to someone for more than face value and then handing that person a ticket for under face value.
I've actually given 1 or 2 tickets away for free in me time.

Oversubsrcibed? Theyve 260,000 people who registered their interest in going and something like 120,000 tickets to sell. Not everyone who has regged will go. If anything the registered number is too low to guarantee that it will even sell out that number of tickets available. It would be nice if they just stuck it to the people who didnt get their asses in gear but it would be pretty embarassing if all this fiddling resulted in them having to retract their plans and sell spare tickets normally.

I expect that a large number of the registrations that they have logged are for peoples pets and imaginary friends.
