Circumcision = Loss of Sensitivity

    Hi,

    Im a 22 year old male and have been circumcised since I was 5.
    I have recently noticed that I am suffering a loss in sensitivity, in comparisson to a year ago. This loss is not due to psychological reasons, but physical.

    I am wondering are there any techniques out there that will help bring sensitivity back? I've only come across one which mentioned using sugar+water whilst in the shower as an exfoliant, to try and remove any keratonised(sp?) skin.

    All information is greatly appreciated

    Well when an un-circumcised penis, is erect the fore-skin retracts from the tip. This is no different from a circumcised penis. So I doubt that the circumcision is the source of any insensitivity. Maybe you should talk to your GP?

    I'd get it checked out - I'd be surprised if you start to lose sensitivity after 17 years, but I'm not a doc.

    Eh no. Because in the un-circumcised penis the glans(head) is kept moist by the foreskin at the times when not aroused it remains sensitive. In the circumcised penis this protection is not there and as the OP said the glans skin tends to become thicker and less sensitive(keratinised). In essence the head in the un-circumcised is pretty much internal skin whereas in the circumcised it becomes external.

    I'm am surprised at the length of time between the original operation and the lack of sensitivity now though. As others said a visit to a knowledgable doctor is on the cards. It's probably just a minor temporary skin condition.

    Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.
