Aftermarket Radio To yaris

Just wondering has anyone fitted an aftermarket radio to a Toyota Yaris??

My grannys one has developed a fault and I took it out and looked at it thinking the aerial was unplugged but turned out everything connected perfectly. Dug around a bit on the web and it turns out there was a recall in the UK as theres a known fault internally in the radio. Rang Toyota dealer, he told me no recall was done in Ireland and wanted €600 to supply new radio, €200 for reconditioned one.

Rang around scrapyards, cant be found anywhere, waiting lists in most places.

So my question is has anyone fitted a 3rd party radio to a Yaris without having to hack at the dash? Maybe in the storage bin below the radio console?

Alternatively does anyone have a radio they want to sell to me?(sorry mods if I shouldnt be asking that here!!)

yes we did. Replacing the original is impossible as is part of the dash, but below that you have a pocket.
We fitted head units in there without any problems.
All you need is a head unit + toyota loom adaptor

Excellent. Bought the aldi bluetooth radio last week for my own car so ill lob in my own factory supplied radio from the vectra.

did the top display (above climate control panel) work ok with the new radio?

how much should I be paying for the adaptor?

Job, fitted my vectra radio with slight modification of the cage yesterday.

Total cost €12.90

Help. I've been literally driven demented with my 99 Yaris radio. It won't work anymore - it turns on but the sound is all fuzzy, like the stations are not tuned in properly (but they are!) Have checked aerial which is fine and my portable CD player still works fine off the cassette desk - but there's only so many CDs you can listen to!.
Can anyone tell my what the problem is and how to fix it. It's the only thing wrong with the Yaris, those bloody factory radios.

if the aerial is grand and connected to the back of the radio, then it sounds like the tuner part of it is gone ott.

Replace the unit with an after market one or bring it back to toyota for repairs.

Some Japanese Vitz models come with a storage compartment where the trip computer display thingy would be on higher spec models. Useful if you're set on installing a DIN sized radio.

see this most days, fm receiver goes on them, you will probably find am works fine, only fix at the moment is to overhaul it and change the receiver..

I'll post up pics of how I sorted it next weekend when I'm home. It's a very simple job if you are any bit competent around cars and works out very neat.

Can be removed and original storage bin replaced v.easily when it comes time to trade.

Toyota dealers will fleece you for this. It was a recognised fault in the UK and was repaired free of charge under a recall. Didn't happen here though.
