Anyone ever in Varna, Bulgaria? Need any comments

Hi, girlfriend has booked us on a sun holiday to Varna in Bulgaria.

Just wondering if there's anything out of the ordinary about this place as opposed to Spain, Turkey etc? What to look out for etc

Hi

I spent a couple of weeks in the Varna area a couple of years ago. Its unusual, or at least it was then, for Irish tourists to stay in the city itself. They usually stay in the nearby Golden Sands Resort.

The city is nice for walking about in daytime, but is not too modern, and a bit run down.

I was glued to it last September before my short stint at Sunny Beach... there's plenty of chit-chat there about Golden Sands too.
Actually I think it was someone on boards who pointed me towards that forum, so now I pass the torch onto you.

You'll probably find info & reviews about your hotel here and here.

There's so much info, you'd honestly get tired reading it... I gave up the obsessive fact-finding after a few days.
