Skin Cancer

This isnt a medical question, just something I need to discuss.

When I was younger (in my teens) and I went on holidays I would always sit in the sun, and sometimes I would be to lazy to put sun cream on. I spent many summers in our house in Alicante and I would be nearly black by the end of the summer. I did this for about 3 summers before i copped on that it could be dangerous and all put lots of sun protection on.

Now i havent got any signs of skin cancer and i dont even have any moles,but was just getting a bit worried lately due my stupidity in the past. Would there be a reasonable chance i could get it? Is it easily dealt with these days? Anything else I could do to make sure i dont ever get it?

These are questions only a doctor can answer...If you're really worried ask to be referred to a dermatologist !

There are loads of risk factors for skin cancer, one big one for Irish people is sun exposure, but there are other contributing factors. Here's a few links that might be useful:

I get a little sun and maintain a light tan. Beats all those chemicals that some people spead on to fake one. Use high sun block other times to avoid a burn. Skin cancer seems to be on the rise. And yes there are treatments for it. Like anything else medical, early detection and treatment are the best courses of action (not to mention precautions to avoid it in the first place).:cool:
