I would definitely accept a knighthood. It makes your name look so cool and not everyone can say 'I am a knight. Lets ****'

I said yes, but then I'm English so probably less hung up abou the whole thing than a lot on here. Also, I've always wanted to be a Knight (Have you seen a Knights Tale, great film).

I've always wanted to be James Bond as well and work for her Majesty's Secret Service.

Incidently, as Piece Brosnan played that part, is he a west brit, judas scumbag or not?

Don't you mean "yes" then if your looking to p!ss of the boardsies?

Eh no, I definitely meant no.

I would derive far greater pleasure from p!ssing off the foaming at the mouth "OHMIGOD!!!! we're like KEWL and MATURE now!!!" brigade than the other ones. Especially those Boardsies I have met so far.

I've seen a lot more foaming at the mouth from those who are offended by the mere thought of someone Irish receiving a recognition for something they have done from the British. Those who have no problem with such an award being given are just curious as to why the others are getting so upset these things.

While that's quite true, I never claimed otherwise did I?

All I said is that I would derive far more pleasure p!ssing off those people who seem to think there should be no problem what so ever.

I'd accept and then at the last minute just before she waves that sword over me I'd jump up and shove it in her chest :D

I bet The Sun would love that, give them something interesting to write about for a change.

Damn right i would its an Honour to recieve one, Im 100% Irish and proud and have no problems with accepting one, im sure anybody would accept one if it was from any other Nation so why not the UK, forget the past whats done is done, move on people.

A friend of mine was cursing Bono for accepting it. But how could he not? After all barriers he's tried to break in this world, he could hardly turn around and refuse an honour from "the Brits". Look at it another way - Lennon (an Englishman) refused his (O)(C)(M)BE because of a war he didn't believe in. Me, I suppose I would take it - the intention is to 'honour' someone, and what's wrong with that. Plus, I have no Malice to Britain - except their invading army of chain stores :D

voted dont know, it would all depend on why i was recieving the knighthood,

If i was involved with a charity that I thought could do with the publicity & Kudos involved, then i probably would...

If I was getting it for selling a few records or kickin a ball around I would have to decline...

that being said I dont do charity work & gave up my sporting/preforming ambitions many, many years ago, so its not gonna happen.

Why not? It'll go nicely with the Nobel prizes (yes, plural).

I would certainly accept it if I was offered. I am not hung up on the whole "but england is evil, they took over our country and killed millions of innocent people" crap. The people responsible for the atrosities here have long since gone to hell, so I bear no ill-will towards Britain.

I am a firm believer in forgive, but dont forget. I will never forget what happened in the past, but that doesnt mean I will hold it against those alive today that had nothing to do with it. It is akin to the brits and most of europe and the jews holding a grudge against Germany for two world wars and millions of innocent people killed.

So yes, I would accept it as an honour, but nothing more.

Absolutely I would. I think it would be most suitable as well

True to my Ulster presbyterian upbringing, I would refuse it, and instead ask for a good old rogering by the old dear herself.
I love a bit of Queen.

    I would accept.

I would not accept it. She is not my Queen therefore I have every right to refuse it. It's a pure joke.

You also have every right to accept

I'd probably not be bothered about it, but I'd be very tempted to accept just to annoy all the sad bastards who would begrudge me accepting an honour from a FOREIGN MONARCH! OMFGZZ!!! TRAITORRR!!1 *foams at mouth while polishing alter of DeValera shrine in the living room*

Yep. I'd accept it and just as the queen is lowering the sword over my shoulder, I'll pretend to have a twitch and jump up in the air, thus causing her to cut my arm off. (I'm fairly sure they grow back). Then I'd wave my stump around while screaming and spraying blood all over the media who are there to witness the event. Now that would make interesting headlines of a tuesday morning.

Then I'd retire on my royalties (ha!) of my book "The Queens Arms. The truth behind the fairy tale".

Sir Billy of the Hills. It has a nice ring to it I think.

Yes, I'd be happy to accept any award that a foreign dignatory thought that I'd earned.

Mrs Saxe-Coburg-Gotha would have to dub me with a whittling-stick or a banjo though.

look at you up there on your high horse. anytime anyone rejects anything from Britain it must be because of the narrow mindedness of the IRA loving attitude. jesus, get over yourself
