Thought the highs and lows of 2006 as presented by Joe Duffy were very true to the point. It doesn't surprise me to see that the road deaths were the lows and the ryder cup, the munster victory and the triple crown were the highs.

Very concerned to see though that Bertie's survival of the payments scandal as a high point and that so many people were upset by the death of Haughey.

Thats one thing that got me as well. Its a sham that one is a high point and the other is a low point.

No surprise at all TBH. Without digging up the good or evil CJ argument again there are an awful lot of people over 40 who remembered him and connected with him. He does after all go back to a different time in Ireland i.e. 50s-70s and as they say "The past is a different country".

Although this year wasn't as bad as others, I've always thought that the national survey wasn't as, well, national as it should be. Cork winning the All-Ireland and Dublin winning a Leinster final have appeared quite highly in the past, leading me to believe that they didn't bother enquiring all that much in other counties. A lot of Drumcondra people were included in this years poll methinks.

Yes indeed, its a sad state of affairs when people hold those bastards in esteem.
