    Hello all,

I've recently been looking over youtube videos for videos of some nice guitar solos, and came across this beauty - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=215_Mei8IZg - a video made by funtwo, its quite good, although most of you have probably seen it. The song was originally made by JerryC, and I really like it.

Now, for my question - the guitar in that video...does anybody have any idea what it is ?[See below - I've now found the guitar, but it is quite expensive - dont bother reading the rest of this paragraph!] I've been googling it for a while now, but to no avail, I have some quotes from different stories about the guitarist saying he uses an "ESP Alfee Custom SEC-280TC", but I tried googling this separately, in the hope of finding somewhere to buy it, and there were no results. Well, there were results, but they were all quotes from the story about this guitarist, so no help really.

So, does anyone know the model of the guitar ? Or if the model I found is correct and it is very hard to acquire or they have stopped production or something ?

    Thanks a lot

The reason I am in the market for a new guitar is because at the moment I only own an Epiphone SG Special edition, which, while being nice enough, is really more suited to lower tones and types of music, which is what I bought it for really. The guitar in this video sound like exactly what I'm looking for (although obviously I'd like to play it before I buy, hehe!). But yeah, thats for another day

Cliff notes : The guitar in the video I posted a link to, does anyone have any idea what it is ? If so, I will be eternally grateful.

    Thanks again.

P.S Oh yeah, if you cant identify the guitar, or think it is probably made from custom parts or something, can you suggest a similar-sounding guitar, something that would be nice for solos like this, kinda rhytmic but with punkish/tinny elements ? \ At the moment I'm thinking an Ibanez, something sub-400 euro would be nice, I've just spent a lot on a holiday for Christmas, so yeah, I'm a bit poor at the moment ! Thanks a lot !

Oh, and does anyone know any good websites to order from, that they have dealt with in the past ? I am also in the market for a good effects pedal (All but decided on a Zoom GFX-5, but cant find any guitar shops that sell it - thats top of my list at the moment, so can any of you find a place that ships to Ireland and stocks it ?. Also decided on a Roland Cube 30 amp, but am stumped on where to order from, so any help there would be greatly appreciated also. Thanks a lot :)

Edit : I found a site selling the guitar from the original video....for 280,000 yen (about 1200 euro..) which is somewhat out of my price-range, lol, so can any of you guys please recommend a similarish guitar, at a lower price, and a shop that will ship to Ireland ? At the moment I'm thinking Ibanez, or an ESP MH-50, but I have no idea really. Thanks :) I really want to play that song, and have a few songs lined up that sound similar, and would fit perfectly into my band, so what kind of set up would you guys recommend to play songs like the one in the link ? Are the amp and pedal selected OK / what guitar would you recommend ?

That is the cheesiest thing I've ever seen :)

Any guitar will get that sound, you don't need a two grand custom ESP. Even your Epi would do it, he's just got a lot of mids in his tone, that's all and you can do that on your amp. If you must get a new guitar, look for pretty much anything with a Floyd Rose locking trem and a bridge humbucker and off you go. There is nothing magic or unique about that guys tone.

its all in the kinda amps(or mabey hes running it though something like a pod i dunno) he uses. Try dialing in the highs and mids more than the bass adding some chorus and reverb.

If youre just looking for recommendations keep an eye out for an second hand Ibanez RG550 or RG1550. Japanese made, top quality all round, and theres plenty in this country. You can pick ones in good nick up for about E450. Dont pay more than E500 for one.

Generally any Japanese made Ibanez you cant go wrong with.

Oh yeah I've watched that video before... That dude is a great guitarist... Not an easy song to play...

Although, the sound is not coming from the particular model of guitar he's using... Any guitar plugged into an amp will do that...
