Tom Waits 'Waltzin Matilda' may not be the one you are after but do yourself a favour and check it out

Gravelly voiced chick singing "don't give up, don't give up" with a rock heavy backing.... what a terrible description! Again, it's on the latest Lost ad on Network 2.

Before a band called '4 Sure' played on X factor there was music being played in the background.

Can't even begin to describe it. By change did anyone here hear it & know what it was?

From what I recall I think that was "Stem/Long Stem" by DJ Shadow

Yeah really good... They play it in work (virgin megastores) all the time!! It's great...

Try this one: Beck played a song when they were supporting Radiohead during the summer, I think it's new but I googled it and can't find it, the lyrics included, I THINK, 'We're all pushing forward'

A toffee apple to whoever can answer that one. It's been annoying me for ages.

The only beck song I can think of with similar lyrics is called Motorcade, the lyrics go "We're all pushing up the tin can mountain".

It pained me to sit through that...and I definitely know the tune...it's by an Irish band too I'm almost sure...someone like the Hothouse Flowers . Or it could be the Waterboys or someone.
Sorry I can't be more help than that...

She plays The Village in Dublin next February.

Sounds from the description that the song was 'Sophia'

    "5 o'clock and a fire escape symphony
Spilling out across the road and the square.
And the sky's the same as your own, do you think of me?
Do the parks, and trees, and the leaves reach you, there?
After the rain, in the lonely hours he haunts me, calling out.
    Again, and again.

Sophia, sophia, I'm burning, I'm burning
    It's a fire, a fire I cannot put out.
Sophia, sophia, I'm learning that some things I can't go without and one
    of them is him

now I walk these streets like a stranger in my home town.
Learn the language, form the words when I speak
But he changed me, I'm his ghost since he came around
now I count the hours and the days and the weeks.

    Passion and silence.
Every word. Every line. A Measure. It's the science of the soul.
And his books, they breathe a reason and now I want to know...

Sophia, sophia, I'm burning, I'm burning
    It's a fire, a fire I cannot put out.
Sophia, sophia, I'm learning that some things I can't go without and one
    of them is him

and you, with your new born eyes, have you ever loved a man like I love him?
Do you hurt but still feel alive, like never before?
    Oh, sophia. Sophia.

Sophia, sophia, I'm burning, I'm burning
    It's a fire, a fire I cannot put out.
Sophia, sophia, I'm learning that some things I can't go without.
    I can't go without him."

When it came to the boxing section of the show and they were introducing Mickey Hatton and Amir Khan etc they had a tune playing. I e-mailed BBC for the song and they didn't say. If anyone saw it could they please let me know please. Thanks in advance

Anyone know what the background music on the FILM4 Ad is, the one for: Laurence of arabia, Anthony and Chleopatra, I think school of rock is in there as well etc loads more. Sounds a bit Pink Floyd, but I don't know what it is.

    Also,

For Sky subscribers, When you press Services on your remote does anyone know who any of the background tracks are?

Ooops it seems like I posted this in the wrong bit of the forum .

    So I,ll try again.
Hopefully there are 2 links below to very small segments of tracks. Ignore the micro second of sound at the start of each track it was very dodgily edited .
I am trying to find out the artist and track name for each one.

Hopefully I have got that right.:D
