Recommended Sports injury physio/consultant with running background....desperate!

    Folks,

    I have had problems with my hip for 3 years now, on and off! After training for several marathons and other long distance races, I have only found physios who solve the problem but not the cause and it keeps returning. I am looking for a Physio in the Dublin/Kildare area who has running experience. Someone who will check my gait/core muscles...recommend a programme etc. Someone who might find the source of my hip injury. Any recommendation are welcome!

    There is a great Physio in Waterford that helped me with a running injury. I had a problem with my knee for about 2 and a half years where I would experience a lot of pain if I ran more than 7 or 8k. Went to a few doctors and apart from costing me a lot of money and suggesting surgery, did little to get me running again.

    In the end I went to the Sports Injury Clinic, Canada House, Canada Street, Waterford (Its behind the tower hotel), The practice is run by Vivienne Keller but the Physio I went to there was Thérese, and she is a runner herself and correctly identified my gait problem. She did some physio work and then sent me to a Podiatrist to get special insoles made to correct the gait problem. i havent looked back since.

    I know its a bit of a trip from Dublin but I cannot reccomend them enough as I know what its like to spend money on bad advice. But maybe someone on boards can recommend a similar service closer to Dublin. In any case, best of luck.

    If you're looking for a Dublin physio, I'd recommend Aidan Woods; I think his practice is on Pearse Street now. He seems to specialise in sports injuries, and did an excellent job on my back after fruitless treatments with other physios. He looks after the Irish rowing team among others, so you should be in good hands.

    I guy at work who does marathons and longer distances recommends http://www.dublinphysio.ie/ . They are near the Blanchardstown Centre.
