    I'll stick a pic up soon :D

I couldn't be considered a 'real fan' myself, my musical taste is very different to what she does, but she is one of the most talented artists out there at the moment, has a tremendous voice and puts on a great show, so I went and wasn't disappointed.

78 quid is the lower end of the bracket for world famous artists these days with elton john, dolly parton and george michael all costing closer to 100 and above.
You mightn't consider Miss Aguilera on a par with those 3 but she's not far off.

We can safely blame the promoters and booking agents in this country for the enormous prices. How ticketmaster can charge 7 quid 'handling fee' on top of the regular price for putting a ticket in an envelope (and not always - you can print off some tickets online) I just can't fathom.

It's ruining the discovery and enjoyment of shows by artists you wouldn't normally go to because no one I know goes to gigs these days unless they like the band.

Also, there's this thing now where gigs sell out in seconds, so you don't even have time to think about it. :(

Nor would I be considered a true fan. I only have her album 'Stripped' (which is quite good) and I like a few of her other songs (What A Girl Wants, Hurt..) but she is not worth paying nearly 80euro to see.

Of course, I can't really talk because I haven't seen her live no way is she anywhere close to those 3 artists! (Sorry, I just had to reply to say that)

I wonder how much she is actually charging, and how much the promoters are putting on. It's a joke how expensive gigs are these days. The only decent band that plays in Dublin that I can think of at the mo, who doesn't charge ridiculous amounts is Rodrigo y Gabriela.

went to manchester instead of the point. Mainly cuz of the price.

    flights + 1 nights accomodation + tickets = €160pp

MEN arena was huge, biggest indoor stadium in europe (can hold 22,500) however about 1/4 of the stadium was blocked off due to the stage layout.

i thought atmosphere would be good, disappointed tbh, the point is much more fiery and loud. Probably because it's clostraphobic and they pack you in like sardines.

anyway, christina didn't disappoint. Im not really a fan but her voice is incredible - even better live than on the cd's. Legend in the making. I've attached a pic :D

I wouldnt be a fan but she is one of the best of a bad bunch on the radio.
Not to offend anybody but I thought she would have had a very young fan base. Were there many kids in the point?
Thats what I would have felt sorry for, the parents being hassled by the kids to bring them, forking out huge sums of cash to keep them happy.

There are a few bands I quite like that I thought about going to see, might not even own a single album of theirs.
Then I weighed up the options and thought "hang on, I can buy that bands entire back catalogue and dvds for the same price of the ticket"

I see Roger Waters is playing in May - with no support - and the cheapest ticket is.............€91!!!!!!!! Plus assorted 'fees'!!! For comparison, the cheapest price on the same tour in London (let's face it - a notoriously expensive city) is £30 stg - about €45.

Jesus. I didn't even check UK dates.

Usually we're more or less level with UK prices, but that's quite a gap there.

Whatever about other promoters, Aiken are really taking the piss lately.

Pod, Foggy Notions and u:mack are bringin some great acts at some nice prices, check out Pod's line up for Tripod and price it

    http://pod.ie/list_tripod.php

Aiken are just stealing some big acts now from their rivals and I'd say they had to bid over the odds for them.

I wouldn't go if it was free, but those prices are crazy, I thought that the Roger Waters prices were nuts but at least I can see a reason people would pay that much to see him. But Christina Aguilera! Come on, is she really that good??? How many of the instruments that you hear will actually be playing live (that's probably a bit harsh, but I've heard of acts of similar status singing over recorded tracks (pretty much Karaoke)). In fact, the gig's over, so does anyone know was she playing with a full band?

I was at it and I've concluded that it was worth the €78. There were about ten dancers and they weren't just dancers they were practically acrobats too! And the stage was fantastically well constructed, and there were loads of stage changes. And the costumes just kept coming and coming! There was even a mini circus on stage at one point!

Plus that girl can seriously sing! If I'm gonna pay €45 to see, say, basement jaxx who are just DJ's on stage and a few singers with a basic stage, the €78 I paid to see the highly extravagant show Christina's people put on was actually bordering on pretty good value.

Fair enough, I would say no to the former but I guess that's just my opinion, just like 'yes she is that good' would be yours.

Didn't think I needed to clarify it but, her being good is my opinion and her having a live band is a fact.

    Happy?:p

And? Don't buy one if you don't think its worth it. It'll still sell out, and isn't that teh point - to make money? It's called business - who ever make money by selling stuff at a "fair" price.

I think artists (& management & promoters, etc) have a right to risk charging as much as they like - with so much music being downloaded, they aren't making as much as tehy used to.

My theory is it includes a blow job from the foxy minx Aguilera.
I see know other reason to fork out that amount.

I reckon people only spend a certain part of their disposable income on entertainment. As the prices go up they either get less entertainment or perhaps they switch to cheaper forms of entertainment. Of course this just means you can still continue to screw the die-hard fans

Over 97% of music shared on the internet doesn't come from paid for sources like itures and co. And none of the bit music companies seem to be going bust despite the muck they churn out.

also have a look sometime as to just how LITTLE of the price of a download goes to an artist, makes you wonder why they don't just setup their own websites !

OK, firstly, my original question was pretty much a rhetorical one as, if I'm gonna ask that question in that way you can be fairly sure I don't think she is that good, or worth paying that amount of money for.
Secondly, I assumed by you saying Yes to it, you understood that it was rhetorical but were more or less saying I was wrong, so, it seems to be just a case of crossed wires.
I guess it's true though, it's difficult to express sarcasm or something similar through lazily typed text, so, my apologies. :o

I think I'm happy now, but it could be tiredness, I'll have to get back to you on that one.:D
