Hey the cylons kill baltar in the orginal series. I'm not spoiling this series of BSG.
    Actually... DISCO BSG
That only happened in the movie version they edited together out of the pilot. When the series ended he was still alive if I remember correctly.

Its for those that didn't see the original series and don't want things spoiled for them.
An inadmissable excuse in my opinion. It's not like it's not available on DVD (It's heavily discounted in the HMV sale) and only resides in the memories of old folk who remember tv programmes from the 1970s.

You see from what i hear from people that have seen both is that the new one is better so why would i see the orginal if it will spoil parts of what is a great TV show

You assume that the new series is following the old series exactly, or has promised to follow it. It is not. They have used the basic premise, and have borrowed certain events from the original series, but by no means all of the storyline. Just because something happened in the old series most definitely does not mean it will happen in the new one.

Of course, you wouldn't know this, because you refuse to even listen to people who talk about the original series

I know that not everything is the same but the Pegasus event in season 3 was the same and so was the whole baltar thing in season 3

I just don't want anything spoiled for me its not that much to ask is it?

What's the point, you're never gonna watch the old series.

Or if you do, you'll be bored silly after the first 2/3 eps and quit it.

Stop spoiling the current series and we'll consider not spoiling the orginal. You just said Pegasus suffers the same faith it did in the orginal series. Cop on you tool and stop spoiling the current series.

For the benefit of those who HAVEN'T seen season 3 so far, I'm going to put the S3 related elements of this post in spoiler tags

The above is not so. Both events are handled completely differently in both series
(okay, slight comparison that the Pegasus held off the cylons so the Galactica could escape, the mission was different in both cases though). In the new series Baltar is a human who mistakenly assisted in the destruction of the colonies, and ended up taken prisoner on a Basestar.
In the original series, Baltar is very, very evil indeed, and defects to the Cylons to actively assist them in tracking down and destroying the human fleet.

Let me review and summarise the salient points of the Original BSG for you.

    1) Col Tigh is black.
    2) Athena is Apollo's sister.
    3) Starbuck is a man.

I hope that clears things up for any ill-informed zygotes who are frequenting these boards.

    Also

    4) Boomer is a male viper jock, black, and is starbucks best mate.
    5) Jolly is alive as well and guess what, is a fat dude.
    6) Boxy who we never saw much of in the new series 'cause alot of his scenes in Season1 were cut, is the adopted son of Apollo and Cassiopia in the original series. (who died).
    7) Serena is a viper jock from the Pegasus who sort of competes with Starbuck. Reminds me a little of Cat.
    8) There are a total of 24 episodes in the original series, the 1st 3 known as 'Saga of a Starworld' was made into a feature film, which I remember seeing in the Carlton cinema in Limerick to this very day. Scenes were debuted for Irish audiences on the late late toy show a month or so before the film hit the big screen :)
    9) BSG 2 : Mission Galactica was the follow up to BSG the movie and was shown a couple years later. This was where Pegasus was destroyed. At this point the TV series had not been shown over here.
    10) Galactica 1980 the series with Troy and Dillon (Apollo and Starbuck wannabees) is generally regarded as sucking badly, including the handful of spinoff movies made not long after they got to earth. (Conquest of the Earth comes to mind).
