Anyone know what the policy of places like The Point or <snip> is on bringing children to a gig? I'm thinking of taking my seven year old to see Madness, for example.

This is sort of a different point, but it goes under this thread...

Anyway, I decided that when I have kids if there is an amazing band playing I will bring them to it so that they may appreciate it when they're older. What does everyone think of all those hippies back in the day bringing very young kis to legendary events like woodstock and live aid or even just normal gigs? What is the youngest age that you should bring a kid? It must be damaging for their ears if the kids are very young?...

That's definitely got to be a consideration. Perhaps some kind of ear plugs would be in order

I doubt there will be a problem bringing kids to a band like Madness, especially if you buy seating tickets. Smaller venues like Vicar Street however, I'd check with the venue.

I've had no bother bringing my young cousin to gigs in Vicar St (we were seated upstairs though).

I'm sure it really depends on the gig. Ticket master.ie usually gives that info when booking tickets.

There were kids as young as 2 or 3 at Bruce Springsteen last night. I think its fine as long as you have seats. Though I did see a kid of about 7 down on the floor last night and I've never seen the floor in the Point that packed before, wouldn't have said it was the place for small children.

there were tons of parents with little kids in THE PIT for Guns n' Roses which i thought was ridiculous. and everytime someone was goin mad to a song they gave you this look... as if you were trying to kill their child. IT'S A FúCKING PIT!!!!!! and a lot of the kids were little toddlers. annoyed the crap out of me cos security kept coming up to people, even if they were just standing... heabanging or something
