Spoiler Tag Everything Got To Do With Original Series Please

I Just think it would be a good idia for those that haven't seen the originals because i didn't know that things would happen......

Also barry aldweels spoiler in Episode 7 topic sucked because now i have an idea of what will happen, its not barrys fault when he posted it, it was spoiler taged.
It was 5uspect`s fault because he quoted but he left out the spoiler tags.

Its not relay fair on those that are relay enjoying BSG but haven't seen the orginal

Also Mod(s) please make this topic a sticky or elce include it in the charter so people wont forget

Maybe you should put spoilers on your own little revelations up there, not everyone has access to season 3.

Given that a fair number of posters were yet to be zygotes at that point, I don't necessarily unfair..

I actually agree it's a good idea to spoiler tag the original's main plot points, if the new incarnation intends on hitting the broad points of the original (maybe even so far as to remake Galactica '80 - wouldn't that be cool!). It's not as if the original is widely shown on TV anymore and it hasn't attained the level of widespread knowledge of something like "Star Wars". Wouldn't hurt really and could help some people to be more surprised by plot developments.

Check again, there's still some Season 3 info in there ;)
    Pegasus death
    .

Don't really mind the original series 'spoilers' too much myself, I've never really expected anything I hear about it to happen as such in the new show. Some of it does but still, I wouldn't consider it a spoiler, more of a "this is something that could happen" type thing.

The writers aren't simply sticking to the same plot as the original. What would be the point in that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

there are some simularties i mean i heard about what happened between baltar and cylons in the original and i didn't have any idea what was going to happen now i do :(

for a while i thought he was talking about not putting spoilers for future episodes in the threads prior to that episode... which is probably a good idea.

Are the gallactica episodes available on YouTube? Such things are legal (trust me, Ive bloody well checked) because they are just copied from Television broadcasts. Ive already found pretty much everything from 24 to Stargate on there, so I was wondering if you've seen BSG on there?

I ask here because I which to express that mutual greivance that not everyone has seen everything to date: Im still back at Season 2 Finale, and some people are further back than that.

Let me review and summarise the salient points of the Original BSG for you.

    1) Col Tigh is black.
    2) Athena is Apollo's sister.
    3) Starbuck is a man.

I hope that clears things up for any ill-informed zygotes who are frequenting these boards.

Before being so snide you might want to look into just how many plot similarities there are between the old and new BSG. OP has a point that these should have spoilers if they are likely to crop up again.

Why dont we just put everything in spoilers just in case? :o

EDIT: PS I'm not trying to be snide or in any way make make it personal. My opinion is that using spoiler tags on a 1978 TV show is silly, IMHO.

Putting something from an episode which has yet to air in spoiler tags: Definitely

Putting something from a later episode in an episode specific thread, in spoiler tags: Definitely

Putting something about a show that has been finished for 28 years in spoilers: Silly. The show is finished. It's not going anywhere, nothing is going to change about it.

HOWEVER!: A policy of identifying which series a thread or post relates to in either the topic, or a warning at the top, would stop people from "accidentally" hearing what happened, and also help avoid confusion (easy considering the number of characters, ships and episodes with the same name in both series)

That way, people who want to know about the 1978 series can go watch it, and those who don't can just ignore posts/threads that are marked as relating to it.

Are you missing the point on purpose? Nobody has said spoiler tag everything.

The point is that people are talking about certain plots from the original series that have come to pass in the new series ie.
baltar joining the cylons, the Pegasus being destroyed and the colonials finding cobol
with this in mind it is a fair point to ask that previous series details be kept in spoilers.

Not so much in case people someday decide to watch the original series but because there is a fair chance certain plot lines will move into the new series.

Dude, the point I was trying to make in my earlier snide reply ("Tigh is black" etc) is that just because something happened in BSG V1.0 does not in any way mean it is going to happen in V2.0.
As an example, in the interview which is posted in this forum with David Eick he says that he had no particular preconception as regards whether
    the Pegasus
    should survive or not.

As regards whether I am missing the point on purpose, when were you talking to my wife ???? ;)

Anyway, I'm really not looking to have an argument with my fellow BSG fans!

A better way would be to say "Original BSG, Possible Spoiler : XXXXXXXXX"

That way people who don't want to see it don't and those that do want to see it do see it

    That's a good idea!

And here's a little note to anyone who hasn't seen BSG V1.0, the sad truth is that its really fairly crap. The opening two hour ep was enjoyable and then sadly as it went on it got worse and more desperate. IMHO only the first ep (and a very few others) is worth seeing

I will happily spoiler any mention of the original bsg series if User45701 will confine himself to only discussing the show Heroes in the Heroes thread instead of complaining about the tv mods decision. From now on every time User45701 brings a feedback issue into the thread I will pm him a major plot point from the original series.:D

Wait a min...... You must have read this forum if you responded to one of my posts.

Anyway this is all getting a little off topic i don't think asking to spoiler tag a spoiler is that much to ask

Grand, if thats your attitude expect to read OS spoilers when ever relavent. Asking people to do something and hten being a prick about it, well done.

This has gone way off topic but i still have to respond to that.
I asked people to "Spoiler Tag Everything Got To Do With Original Series Please"

This does not apply to you as you aready said

Also its in the forum charter it says that you must spoiler tag spoilers and there are very similar events in the original BSG and the current BSG so things fro the original series are considered spoilers

You're not a moderator. I don't read this forum regularly became people liek you don't have an ounch of cop on.

Hey the cylons kill baltar in the orginal series. I'm not spoiling this series of BSG.

    FAO LiouVille

That was not very nice of you it would have been much simpler for you if you had just put me in your ignore list as i have now done with you.

I don't know why you would post that.

Speaking of Old Series Spoilers, I just can't wait till they remake the flying motorbike episodes and the Space scouts ones for the new series, Ohh ohh and the WWII V2 rocket time travel episode.

You speak of Galactica 1980 which is not the Original Series referred to by User45701 and as such does not require the dreaded spoiler tags.

Personally I don't see the point in spoiler tagging references to the original series.
