GOW is REGION FREE

Despite what Play-Asia are saying.

VideoGamesPlus.CA have tested both the Collectors Edition & Normal Editon and both are region free.

Also the hackers are all reporting GOW Asian NTSC-J is 100% region free too.

So Play-Asia are not playing fair on this one, maybe because they also stock the US & European versions. Why would they want us to order the cheaper version when they stock the Euro version ...

Yeah as grumps say's no chance for release day - but the cost saving is more than worth it.

On a related note, Game are doing a decent offer. 45 off the game when you trade Splinter Cell, Pro Evo 6, FIFA 07, Enchanted Arms, and a few others (obviously one of them, not all). Going my standard pricing, you should get the game for 30 and on release date. I'm done with my SC so that's going.

Ok the other games i understand, but enchanted arms? I have it and its not all that great. Is it selling well or something?

Hmm after completing Enchanted Arms I think I can let it go.

Lads my copy has shipped so I'll be able to confirm whether it is or not in a weeks time.

If it isnt region free, the solution is simple

go to argos etc.. buy the pal copy. swap disc and take it back saying it didnt work. Get a replacement and then flog it here on boards, or get a refund...

Not really, they send it back to the distributor, they think its just a manuafaturing error and argos or whoever you go to get another one sent to them or refunded in their next order.

If you dont ask for a refund, Argos still have your money.

You can then sell your spare copy elsewhere or trade it in elsewhere.

No because when they sell you the game (in argos anyway) it's always shrink wrapped. And they hardly ever check anything people take back in anyway, as long as you have the reciept...

never mind. my point wasn't that you won't succeed in getting your money back, rather that when argos send it back to the wholesaler or whomever, they will recognise that argos were duped, and won't reimburse them.

either way, its fine if you are cool with doing that, however, I wouldn't broadcast the fact that you intend to commit a crime on an internet message board.

MS would cope it as the discs are usually pressed in Ireland for the EU so i doubt there would be a american copy being pressed here

Smoggy, you didn't order them in one package did you? Customs might grab it. Only time i've heard of playasia packages getting grabbed by customs is when there is more then one game in the package

Looks like this is the possible current story on GOW. The Asian version will not work on PAL 360s but the US/North American one will. Check Eurogamer, they confirm as well that the US one definitely works on PAL boxes.

Seems to make sense. Video Games Plus say it will work as they stock the US/North American versions while the webpage of the Asian one on Play Asia says it won't work. They still have a question mark on the US one in Play Asia.

Well, I may be wrong, this whole region thing for GOW is very confusing.

Just remembered that I have a $5 voucher for Play Asia on orders over $50.

The US version of GOW is $63 including postage of $3.10. So with the voucher, it's $58 or just over €45.

Think I'll play safe and order the US one then this evening.

Probably.

But then again I'm not God so it's hard to know.

Presume the Xbox only considers 360 discs under the region cartegories, PAL, NTSC-U/C, and NTSC-J and any other regions that exist.

The edition of the game hopefully shouldn't matter.

In under a week this thread will be hilarious.

There will be people delighted getting cheaper versions of the game, people who will be p*ssed off that they got a version that won't work, people that played safe and got PAL and are now p*ssed off that they could have got a cheaper version, and people that couldn't wait for the delivery time from Play Asia or VG+ and got ripped off buying it in a bricks and mortar shop!

Lets the madness begin!!
