What is a media drive ?

XviD & DivX are derivatives of the MPEG-4 ASP specification it is unusual though not unheard of for one to work & the other to not.

xvid and divx are both mpeg4 codecs and pretty much all divx players will play xvid. This isn't always the case though and some xvid videos can't be decoded by a divx codec/player.

One way to convert is open the xvid file in VirtualDub, then choose the video codec as divx, choose audio processing (or direct stream copy to leave it as is) and save as a new filename.

What's the media player? I have an Archos AV700 and it plays both divx and xvid, but won't play mpeg1 or mpeg2. It also only supports a certain resolution so I've found some xvid files don't work. Could it be that the resolution of the files you're trying to play is too high?
