DAM someone already put up my favourite Don’t Fear the Reaper, but I want my funeral to be a big musical montage at some night club and the band better play these songs:

    Don’t Fear the Reaper (BOC)
Everyone has AIDS (team America soundtrack)
    Pistol Slapper Blues (Rory Gallagher)
Thumbing my way back to Heaven (Pearl Jam)
Keep on rocking in the free world (neil Young)
After the goldrush (neil young again hes a legend)
    Bomber (motorhead)
Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin) ("Valhalla I am coming home")
    Little Wing (Jimi Hendrix)
Castles made of Sand (Jim Hendrix)
Bold as Love (Jimi Hendrix again another legend)
    Ziggy Stardust (Bowie)
    Where its at (Beck)

Definitely, not under any circumstances, is Everybody Hurts by REM to be played. Great song, but if I am a watching this from heaven with Jaysus I will hit the roof.

I've asked for Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life, to cheer people up. Funerals are miserable affairs, but mines' going to be great. Lots of balloons, streamers, fireworks and strippers!

Bob Dylan's 'Lay down your weary tune' or any Dylan song.

The 'best' song I've heard at a funeral was 'Come Runnin Home Katy'...it was so sad and so appropriate:(

    Jeff Buckley -- hallelujah
    Bob Dylan -- forever young
    Bob Marley -- Redemption song

P.S. A freind of mine passed on a few years ago, and at his service they played all his favorite music, lots of reggae -- it was real uplifting , rather than the more sombre affairs.

Thats unbelievable. They should play it even if its Platypus (I hate you) by Green Day.

Don't get why they wouldn't play Metallica. Thats sad really.

I had one all picked out and saw the title of the thread and now I can't remember.

I actualy have a tendency to confuse that with the funeral march.

For all you AC/DC fans, picking Highway To Hell demonstrates a serious lack of imagination. If you really want to piss off the oldies in attendance and go out rockin', might I suggest playing "Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be" off the Let There Be Rock album. That will have them proper shocked!

Seriously though, my choice would be "When The Man Comes Around" by Johnny Cash. Let the attendants read what they will into all the religious imagery in the song; I'm an atheist, but I think it is a really great, appropriate song.

I've actually written a song as a message to the people I love when I die that I'd like played at my funeral. Don't worry, it's no where near as gay as it sounds!

Mine would have to be Another one bites the dust by Queen

Thought the Metallica story was bad? A friend of mine's uncel wanted Imagine by John Lennon and the priest said no!

I think I'd go for Pink Flotd's Waiting For the Worms

An appropriate song to play at the funeral of someone who commited suicide would be Frank Sinatra's "I did it my way".

Erm. The Monster Mash. Yeah. That'll do.

I've always liked the song "Who wants to live forever" by Queen, or maybe a song by Snow Patrol.
I actually made a list out before (morbid i know) after one of my friends died (7yrs ago) but my song choices are very different now.
Have to have Johnny Cash "Hurt"

"dead" by They Might Be Giants.
Or maybe "Walk of life" by Dire straits, that'd be innappropriately happy.
