Humour, and then I'd make a rule that jokes there have to be really funny. So much wasted time just reading ****e.

Lego because it's ace and the people there are generally pretty cool. And on a tougher note Computers/Technology because I do have a major interest in that area and it's good to communicate idea's and info there. Lego on it's own just wouldn't be fair!

The subjects's I feel where my experience and knowlege would actually be enough to warrant the position would be related mainly to food and music.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,102 ✭✭✭✭Kintarō Hattori

My understanding is that you don't get to be a mod if you openly express interest about it so......... don't get your hopes up!

Probably music or something, portable media devices if I had to, wouldn't really want to.

If any mods needed to cull a forum, say tcn for instance - get rid of all the noobs thinking they own the place. If I were to be bestowed with teh ban power for just one night...I'd give it back once I'm done, honest.
It just wouldn't be the most populated of fora afterwards.

Prison, because it's the funniest forum on boards.

I think, just for fun it would have to be the

U could have some craic messing with

Haha, I'd give you a modship for that!

I'd like to mod a busier forum than L&E, if I got the chance. I'd adore modding the Harry Potter forum, particularly if it was busier!

First of all, I'm glad that some people want to be mods and do all the work to keep the forums and boards going. It would be pure chaos without them! But personally, I don't have the time or the desire to join the mod squad. If I did, TCN would be the first choice cause it's humourous and fun.

I think I'd be good at it. But I wouldn't mod at all. Seems like a big hassle. In a few years maybe when I have more emotinal attachment to boards.

Modding requires some form of responsibility.

    Why would anyone want that?

I would only like/be persuaded to mod ones that I am interested in. The fora I like are; Agnostic/Atheism, Vegan/vegetarian, TCN, Spell czechs, KotRT, Etymology, English, Rock/Metal, Gigs/Events, Philosophy, Fashion/Appearance, Anime/Manga, Galway City, North West, Music, Literature and Physics & Chemistry.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,392 ✭✭✭✭r3nu4l

Well I would have said Literature (1st Pref) , Biology and Medicine, or News and Media but as I'm unlikely to be offered any modding on boards.ie and I've just agreed to be both Admin and Mod for another site that will be enough for now :)

Can't imagine myself modding AH :shudders:

LOL. You wouldn't be the first mod to try banning themselves from their forum to see what happens (it doesn't work btw; only an admin can change the access rights of someone that is mod of the forum in question, it's a nuisance when an s-mod wants to join a private forum as the h-mod in question can't just add us as usual).

    Banned.

    Someone who is mod.

Pm me in a week or so and Il'l unban you!

Yes, and then you would get the most popular users being mod, rather than the ones that would actually be good at it. The benevolent dictatorship system currently in place works far better.

As for what forums I would go for, it would be programming, unix or open source. They pretty much mod themselves, and just need a cleanup now and again.

I'd say American Football and Baseball. And probably cooking. I know a lot about American Football and Baseball. I grew up on them. And I love to cook :p

Nothing would interest me enough to moderate a forum. I only really visit 10 or so. Actually maybe something like Consumer Issues, because I know a lot about that.

Heh, I was going to post saying how modding just seems like a pain in the hole but that I'd do it if it was something I was really interested in or that I was asked to do, but that sounds like a good idea.

Oh and we could ban Cork, too.

There's no tumbleweeds on Jazz/Blues, just a few cobwebs. It's a misunderstood and forgotten art...

I would've said "Dance/Electronic/DJing", but moving 50% of the threads to the clubbing forum would get annoying after a while. (shortly after moving one thread I would imagine...)

"Nintendo" would be an obvious choice
"Games" could be cool as well

All of the above have perfectly capable mods already though

On a side note, i'm actually very happy with the forums i moderate.. except Music which can be a feckin' nightmare!
