Irish classic plates in UK

    Looks like I will be spending 6 months in the UK in 2007.

    What is the story on driving with Irish classic plates in the UK?

    Do I need to switch over to euro style plates?

    Or will I be grand on the classic ZV plates?

    Any advice much appreciated.

    AFAIK you'll be fine with the ZV plates. You will need an IRL sticker on the back of the car, though.

    got pulled up in Bedford with 73 c 916 in green gaelic style letters, no EU plate or IRL sticker......copper was just curious to know where I was from and wanted to know where all the old Fords were coming from (santa pod claasic ford mag day)...all the speed merchants in Escorts blasted off ddown the rtoad grinning like eejits cos I got stopped and they didnt....

    All you'll need is an IRL sticker on the back. And remember to take all your documents. Sorted.

    Anan thanks for that - now all I need do is hunt down a nice chrome IRL badge for Tiny - assuming they exist of course.

    Corktina - looks like you won best of class if he chose to pull you over ;)

    MacP - good on ya for reminding me - just did a trawl and gathered up all the docs in one spot :D

    you need tax and insurance discs too and current NCT if applicable....
