I'll be back when it's over

(edit) - jesus, the amount of ads on canadian/american television... no one in Ireland has any right to bitch about ads on tv.

    meh..
enjoyed about half of this episode. i'd still watch it again if it were on tv now though

i'll second that sarcasm if it was indeed sarcasm.

Christ, you people up all night waiting for it? That's dedication..... or insomnia... or both!

Anyways, i've to wait til i get back from work this evening to watch it.

Might just watch up until the 'Lost' logo....

    ... short time later....

... aaaaaaaaahhh... feckin loved it! Thought we were on the outside world off the island.. the others sure have their side of the island all pretty, don't they? Ethan was back.. so was Goodwin. And Henry in a shirt.. classic!

Very well shot too... the plane ripping in the sky looked very cool and also the zoom-out of the other's hideaway.

Another 40 minutes left to watch tonight..... grrrrrrr!!

yeah loved the first couple of minutes before the title, loved that they were discussing Stephen King books in the book club, although I wonder can anyone work out what novel of his were they reading? Jack story back ground story was just ok, Kate seemed really upset when she was put in the cage, she must have an idea of whats going to happen over the two weeks. They must have some contact with the outside world to get all of the details on Jack. Anyway its great to have Lost back. I'll give this an 8

    Cheers

    i liked it...

it was a look into the life of the others.

when the episode story i thought it was a Henry back story and then to see the plane split in half overhead was a new perspective on the crash.

but why oh why were they so keen to find out and get info on the passengers was strange...also to assume that that there was ppl alive on the planes i found odd.

Henry kind of made it look like he knew that there would be tons of survivors.

It wa also cool to see two Dharma stations.

Im also curious on how they got so much info on the passangers. they basically knew everything about Jack.

I got a feeling that next weeks storyline is going to be based on the rest of the losties with no reference to the 3 captured.

and btw Kate looked absolutely Hot! Hot! Hot!

Was ok, but I expected a bit more from the first ep of a new season.

Getting so frustrating how the others never give anything away, but I suppose that's what keeps people watching.

Was fairly good. Start was very similar to that of last season :p
Great to see it back though.
Also, was it just me, or did Juliet remind anyone else of Seth Green?

Again pretty good but not great. Great intro as has been said numerous times.

Backstory pretty good, Jack at his stubborn best but finally giving in.

It seems Kate knows what they're in for alright but was silenced, she didn't look the happiest after being thrown in the cage. I wonder wat they did with Carl to leave it empty for her.

Juliette is an interesting new character, she seems to have a funny relationship with Ben (possible past lovers or something á la jack and Sarah?).

Nice scene when Sawyer wins the food and his little dance.

    bafflerama

Thought it was a great episode, full of mystery.
I don't know if lost started out as a show that was going to conceal every little thing but I suspect it will end up famous for such.
    Apparently they were reading
    carrie
    interesting
What was that little test with Jack all about? Bizare stuff.
The next 2 weeks are going to be unpleasant? Are they inducing them into the Dhrama Initiative, or just putting them through weird experiments?
    At One point Jack says
'so you guys are whats left of this?' presumably again the DI.
Lot of theories speculate the others are leftover scientists...or even deserted or trapped on the Island.
Why if the cages were meant for animals is there a picture of a knife and fork?
I think Carl and the escape thing was rigged to dissuade Sawyer from future efforts.
It's all manipulation mind games, mad stuff.
Ben directs his men after the plane crash as if he wasn't expecting it.
But then Julie has a comprehensive file on Jack as if they knew who would in the plane?
it's quite hard to figure out this show.....

I don't think Ben and Julie don't have any past although at the beginning Ethan was the one fixing the plumbing under the house, maybe they were in a relationship and she blames Ben for getting him killed also when jack flooded the cell he didn't seem to care if Jack cut her throat or if she drowned as he left her in the cell while it was flooding. Also the polar bears were kept in the cages, as one of the head others tells Saywer that it only took the bears 2 hours to work out how to get the food reward. I would say we'll be going back to the remaining survivors to see how they get along without their main leaders next week. As always with Lost they'll drag it out a bit

    Cheers

Very interesting point there. I felt the whole calmness of the flooding situation was more evidence that this place is another set up like the end of last season. And the guy who tried to help sawyer escape definately set up! Or maybe they want us to think that.... argh so confusing!!

    Absolutely terrible.....

after waiting 3 months for the first episode... thats what we get?

TBH im fed up with the whole Lost thing after that episode... do the viewers
really want to be dragged through another year of unanswered questions?

meh.,.. dont think i'll be watching this series after that showing...

    really bad:mad:

Although the actual food that Sawyer got; fish biscuits, meal pellets and water seems to be geared towards an amimal like a polar bear.

I thought it was good start to the new season which opened up a lot of new story lines to play out over the next few months.

And Kate was smokin' hot in that dress :D

well it wouldn't be a very good show if they doled out all the answers on an episode by episode basis...

babylon 5 had a whole lot of questions that didn't get answered until halfway through the very last season.. and more that didn't get answered. The show is worth watching because I find it interesting, I'm willing to give the writers the benefit of the doubt and assume they've got some sort of plan for it. Really though, I don't care.. I don't have anything invested in this show, I enjoy it but if it started to suck, I'd be happy enough that I got 2-3 seasons of quality out of it.

Amazing start to the season again. Though I wish I hadn't read that other spoiler page, and won't be doing that again! And so many questions could have been answered but weren't. As per usual.

Intro - fantastic. Visually as good as the Other 48 days bit from last year. Sometimes we forget this is 'only TV', but with movie style effects.

Then the credits, with 5 new editions to the cast for this year. With only 3 departures, I wonder does that mean we'll say Au Revoir to a few more of the original gang soon?

I think I'm going to like Juliet. She seems kick ass, and a bit rebellious, perhaps like Alex. Fenry/ Ben ain't seeming any more loveable so far.

Personally, I think that Fenry/ Ben was well aware that the plane was about to crash but the other others (?) weren't. As already stated, he immediately knew what to do with the two guys, Ethan and Goodwin. And the fact that they have this huge file on Jack suggests they knew who was coming.

Tonight's flashback was interesting in that it sealed Jack's destiny, as regards being on the flight. If he hadn't been so paranoid, would his Dad have fallen off the wagon, and ended up in Oz when he did. I wonder now can Dharma have had any further involvement in making sure Jack ended up on that flight at that time, but will leave those conspiracy theories to another day.

    Excellent start - 9/10.

In fairness the others have been made out to be ex military, so theres a good chance with computers on the island(ones with more than a repetitive code), that they could look into the losties files... the infamous permanant record....

Well it's been 64 days since the plane crashed. I dont believe that the others are isolated any more and I think that they could easily have done their research in the intervening days. Also, Ben didn't know any of the names of the people on the plane (yes, he could be lying but i don't think so), so i don't think he influenced the crash.

That was only ok I'm afraid. Liked the bits before the lost logo came on, twas a bit like how season 2 opened by seeing the answer to the question that carried on from the previous question without knowing.

The Jack flashbacks weren't as bad as others. Still bored the bejesus outta me though. His story in the aquarium yoke wasn't that interesting either until when Henry, or Ben, landed down.

Kate had her usual huffing and puffing, failing to blow the house down once more. Enjoyed Ben being a smartass to her at the breakfast though. She's in for a world of pain now by the looks of things.

Sawyer's cage scenes were pretty funny. Especially when he got the thing to work.

Ben's still da man though. He rescued season 2 and remained the most interesting character throughout this episode. He was a proper twat locking the door behind him when all the water was coming through. Still cool though...

Overall, I gave it a 7. Wasn't bad, but there's been far better..

Just 10 minutes in so avoiding the above comments.. although one thing has already struck me!

Someone put up a teaser a few weeks ago here with the scene with Sawyer in the cage.. and he pushes the 'knife and fork button'. And the guy in the cage across from him says "i wouldn't do that!". Now in this teaser.. Sawyer replies:
If i want your advice, i'll ask for it
    Carl
    !"

However in the aired version, he says:
If i want your advice, i'll ask for it..!"

So they took out his name in the aired version. Wonder why.. might be explained later in the episode though so back to watching it and will give my 2c's at the end of it!

EDIT: Aha... there we go.. that's the teaser scene in question.

EDIT 2: OK.. finished it there!

An OK episode.. i think they just revealed the right amount of stuff as the capture will obviously last for a while, so revealing too much too soon would have probably been a mistake. Finally got to learn Henry's real name though. Stupendous intro to the episode as already mentioned numerous times.

Jack reached a new level of arsehole in those flashbacks. I think they were moderately important though as we're progressively learning how bad the relationship with the father actually got, and also the jealousy and interest in Sarah's new love life.

\/ \/ -- I agree with sionnach about the "you're not my type" line. Some US fansites have taken it to mean that Mr Friendly is gay.. don't think it's simply that. I'm not sure about sionnach's selecting breeding theory but there's definitely more to it.

Enjoyed the scenes with Sawyer.. always good to watch. I've a feeling we'll definitely be seeing Carl again. How HOT did Kate look in that dress? Dear God!!  Seemed to be a bit of a spark between Kate and Sawyer again after dilly-dallying with Doctor Love numerous times last season. Hungry for a fish biscuit now too... mmm-mmm, good!

Not as good of a start as last season but looking forward to how it'll all progress from now on.

And c'mon.. Michael Emerson is now a regular.... that's enough to keep me watching week after week! :D

    Anyways.. gave it a 6 / 10.

    Pretty ok episode.

One thing that really stood out for me was when kate takes her shower, when she tells the other that she won't shower with him watching and he laughs and says "you're not my type". This whole exchange is completely redundant if that's all there is too it. The phrase "you're not my type" suggests to me some sort of selective breeding program or something. Kate is genetically unsuited to produce offspring with this guy. Then we see that Kate has had a blood sample taken from her (i think, could just be an injection), which adds a bit of weight to the theory.

I dunno, it just stood out for me as a scene and line that was forced in there for a reason.

Could just be gay. Could be...

Quite disappointed with that episode. As stated first few minutes were very good but over all the epiode wasn't great. They should of left out a few major revelations for the season premier. Looking back on season 2, the first two episodes were an entire league ahead of this epiosde. If they can't manage to bring out a really good epiosde at the start are we doomed to have filler epiosdes unti the season finale. Can't believe people voted 10/10 and even 9/10. Think the long wait and the craving some people had for an epiosde of lost has tainted the voting. I gave it 6 out of 10.

Also they only showed jack, kate and saywer. No lock, hurley, eko etc. I know people will gove out about me being too critial about lost but i think it deserves it.

Well.. it is the more interest storyline of the cliffhanger. It's quite obvious what'll essentially happen back at the hatch.. they're main characters FFS. And they did the same thing last season.. focused on the camp / hatch for episode 1 and the Michael / Sawyer in the raft in episode 2.

Being far too harsh for just one episode in!
