Buffy/Angel in same universe as Firefly/Serenity?!?

is it possible? okay,so buffy acccorded mainly at the start of the 2000's firefly is 500 years in the future so around 2500 when is fray[the joss writen slayer in the future] based? has whedon ever said anything bout firefly and buffy being in the same universe?

haven't seen jack **** about vampires in firefly or serenity...

adding to that, the firefly universe is actually pretty cool, so that sets it apart pretty clearly from the buffy/angel ... stuff
