    Sorry! Wrong answer.

Correct answer is Vietnam with 42 human deaths.
According to WHO, Indonesia have had 32 human deaths and not 48 like you answered.

    http://www.bird-flu-center.com/

By September 8th, Indonesia had 48.

Why is Iron so common relative to other heavier elements ?

Why is Iron so common relative to other heavier elements

Because its a group 8 period 4 metal and these are the last elements produced by Stellar nucleosynthesis.

That means they dont need a Nova to form so are the most common metals, Iron is the 10th most common metal I believe .

heres my question , equally obscure ,

In 80's childrens TV , who kept denying Belor the Nidus ?
( I'll take the Character name or the Actors name !! )

I stand corrected  It's possible the WHO site wasn't up to date.

<cough> You know you aren't supposed to use google don't you ? ;)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron
Group/Period relates to electronic configuration which doesn't really apply in the centre of a star, </cough>

    Rothgo ?

    Rothgo ?

    I googled. :D

Mick , thats correct , it was Rothgo , played by Ron Moody.
    Your question ,

Captain , Electronic config of atoms is crucial to where in the nucleosysthesis chain they form , and hence the commonality.
( Edit : actually its the stage of the nucleosynthesis that determines electronic config so that should be the other way around )

    Heres a link ,
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stellar_nucleosynthesis

See the section " Key Reactions"

Incidentally my answer came from a book called the Big Bang by Simon Singh and not google ,
    http://www.amazon.com/Big-Bang-Universe-Simon-Singh/dp/B000BHA3K4/sr=8-2/qid=1159414490/ref=pd_bbs_2/002-2753349-3928051?ie=UTF8&s=books

though I guess your page is remarkably similar , but then theres only one right answer :D

Ta couldn't remember the name of it of this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_burning_process
Adding to a nucleus with 56 nucleons (such as iron–56 or nickel–56) requires energy rather than releasing any.
    ...
The entire silicon-burning sequence lasts about one day and stops when nickel–56 has been produced. Nickel–56 ... half-life of 6.02 days ... decays to cobalt–56 ... half-life of 77.3 days ... decays to iron–56.
/methinks a trip to ye local library might be in order

    /waits for Mick's question

Teddy McCarthy. But I had to look it up.:(

Jack Lynch came close though. He won All Ireland Medals in 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945 and 1946. 1945 was his Football Medal and the other five were in Hurling.

    Sticking with the GAA.

The 1947 All Ireland Football Final was unique in that it was played at the Polo Grounds in New York. Which two teams contested the final?
