There she was in sallins train station waiting on her sister when she starts chatting to a 'young lad' as she called him. Turns out it was Damien Rice getting the train to newbridge with just his guitar. And what did my ma say to him?

"Are you learning how to play the guitar?"

No, he said, hes going over to record some stuff in newbridge. He tells her he is already kind of well known. So she asks him his name and he tells her: 'Damian Rice'. She says 'I must remember that name now so I can say I met you when you become famous!' He laughed and asked her for a light but she doesn't smoke and lectured him on the dangers of smoking! Plus she kept on saying how gorgeous he was? She's nearly 70! She told him there was a person out in the carpark smoking so he asked her to mind his guitar while he went for a smoke!! mad or what!!

can't remember his name right now. seemed like a sound enough guy. didn't really know him that well, even though there was only 60 people in our year.

That's the cutest story I've heard in a long time.
He must've been so chuffed to have met such a legend in such a mundane situation.
Just goes to show that you never really know how your day'll pan out!
    Bless!

He's just like the rest of us, the rest of us wait at train stations, starstruck by proxy or wha. My granny met oasis in the bar of hotel off grafton street one saturday afternoon around ten years ago, no big deal, she's dead now.

So, would you not like to meet the artist who writes the songs you listen to?

I was in a Blockbusters in Italy and they kept playing Damian Rice over and over again. I left after about 10 minutes because I was starting to feel suicidal and in desperate need of alcohol.

I'd have flung his guitar onto the tracks in front of a train. That new material might have been postponed a little while...

I did meet Paul Daniels (the magician) once, in a computer store of all places. The former Planet PC in Waterford. I was pricing something, he walks in, and I started thinking, I know him from somewhere...

When in LA, I met one of the actors from Terminator 2, that black guy who Sarah Connors tries to shoot in the hope of stopping Skynet. He is the same person who detonates the bomb at the Cyberdyne building near the end.
I was standing with my friend outside the Chinese Theater in Hollywood, and he just casually walked past me.

Really, I just dont think its a big deal... now if I was sitting at a bar in LA and by chance Jessica Alba walked up to me... *keeps dreaming*.

    I've met eh...eh....eh... *pause*

Anyway, Mr. Rice hung out with somebody I know before. She wasn't very taken with his personality.
There are very few famouse people I would care to meet. Maybe RDS, Avril and Amy. that's all I can think of.

Once saw Michelle Smith (or De Bruin) going through Dublin Airport as well as Martin McGuinness and that Naked Camera chap, Patrick McDonnell walking around Cavan town a few years ago around the time of Don't Feed the Gondalas.:)

Meeting Damien Rice would ruin my day, in the unlikely event of me recognising him. Your Ma was right. He should learn the guitar, seeing as he's a "musician" and all.
I "met" (nodded and said hello to) Mike Scott (singer from the Waterboys) and Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.
    I also met your Ma:D

Juniper were his old band wasn't it? The first Bell X1 album has a few songs written by him on it. Don't like them but I really like O.

Jeez I've only met James Iha, David Grohl, Dexter Holland(The Offspring), Noodles(The Offspring), Steve Harris(Iron Maiden) and other less famous people like Billy Zane, One Minute Silence, Machinehead, Raging Speedhorn and Breed77.

I was in the cafe on the top floor of the Easons building in Dublin and whilst I was buttering my scone I noticed non other than Mr Gerry Adams sitting at the next table.

I litterally inhaled my scone and coffee and ran out the door
