Getting WEP password from iBook

    Hi,

I have been enlisted to set up a friends mothers laptop on their home wireless network. I set up her Dads one on the same network a few weeks ago. I think I may also have to set up a windows laptop on the same network.

I'm very comfortable with Windows but have absolutely no experience with Macs. I set up her Dads by basically fiddling around the other week. It is working fine. I'm just wondering when you click on the settings for the wireless network on the ibook thats working, will I be able to see the WEP password or will it be blanked out.

If it is blanked out will I have to log into the router and get it from there. It is the standard Eircom wireless router, I think a Netopia.

Thanks for any help in advance.

    There's always the dark-side ?!

Won't work on new Intel Macs but older Airport models should be fine.

To answer your first question, No you won't be able to see the WEP password on the Mac.

WEP encryption is totally useless and a peace o' cake to crack. Might as well just leave your network wide open.

If you're going to bother with encryption, WPA is the only way to go.
