Any advice on software (preferably free or 30-day trial shareware) for finding duplicate mp3s? Google only really gets me Abee mp3 duplicate finder which is a bit limited in the trial version. Ideally something that will neatly group with track lengths, bitrate, etc. and let me delete the dupes.

Thanks for the suggestions. Media Monkey is looking best so far but still not ideal. Looks great as a general management tool thouhg. I have an iPod but share your distaste for iTunes, PogMoThoin. As far as I can make out Easy Cleaner will only find completely identical files and I've got rid of all of them already. I'm interested in finding files that are the same but have different encoding, etc.

you could try a util called spaceman ... i've used it for generic file finding ... 30 day trial here http://www.extrabit.com/spaceman99/

it worked out really well for me, to find duplicate digital photos, regardless of date/time or filename

if you are looking for duplicate files, but you know they are encoded differently, how are you making the duplicate decision ? is it by filename ?

i think spaceman will find near matches also ... give it a whirl

would be interested to know how you get on. good luck!

I use Duplicate Finder which is for all files not just MP3's. I bought the shareware version, but have had problems with the registration, so I wouldn't recomend it 100%. I also use MediaMonkey but I prefer DuplicateFinder.
