Start playing World of Warcraft :D

You wont have any free time once you're hooked! (evil laugh)

Hmmm...most of the hobbies I have at the minute fall into the "appreciation" catagory; books, films, music. I feel that I need to find something that makes me feel like I contribute or produce something. One friend suggested origami which I'll probably look into as I really like folding things. Learning a musical instrument would be cool except that past experience has taught me that I have all the rhythm and musical ability of a small stone. Unfortunately, the pet thing is kinda out of the question at the mo but I'd absolutely love to get a dog at some point :)
Custom book covers sounds right up my street :D
And don't chicks get funny looks when it comes to the whole roleplaying malarky?

Yet again I will recommend coin-stacking.

    As seen here:

Can add to stress levels quite easily.

Also try the Game Of Thrones and Arkham Horror boardgames.

I've heard Game of Thrones is horribly unbalanced. The fourteen year old in me wants Arkham Horror but I've a funny feeling it would never see the table.

I've a pretty good collection going in Ticket to Ride, Tikal, Tigris & Euphrates, Traders of Genoa (lot of 'T' games) and some Carcasonne games. Not sure what I'll go for next.

Actually, I imagine your gender would make you even more welcome at an adult table. Maybe *too* welcome. Roleplaying is a good hobby to mix the active and passive. You and your group effectively get to tell a story with everybody taking turns.

That's what I was getting at with the "funny looks" comment. Shudder...

Ah right, you shouldn't let it put you off. It's only a stereotype. You should be able to find some mature heads easily enough I would think.

How can anyone ever be bored when there are so many books in the world to read?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,873 ✭✭✭✭The Hill Billy

How about writing a book - "The Life of a Bored Boardie"?

    I'll start you off...

    Chapter 1
It was a dark & stormy night. I was bored. Beruthiel's avatar sprang to mind. Something stirred...

Learn car chassis codes, so you can annoy people by saying "EE102" instead of "Toyota Corolla".

My sentiments exactly, I've only gotten through one or two thousand and there are so many more I want to read. The ultimate hobby.
    That and stamp collecting.

    i agree, read!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,294 ✭✭✭Jack B. Badd

I read. Believe me, I read loads! But at the same time I'd like to be able to do something else, something that gives me a finished product at the end would be nice.

I can't believe that this post has been sitting there since 17:16 yesterday and no snotty-little-studenty-smart-arse-type bothered to post "Have a w@nk!"

The youth of today - no interest in smut & double-entendres. What's the world coming to?

What? You've never heard of Dungeons&Dragons, Call Of Cthulhu, Vampire/Werewolf/World Of Darkness/Exalted, Unknown Armies, GURPS, Feng Shui, Warhammer Fantasy etc. etc. etc.?
The OP said he's bored and in a rut - so maybe something that would get him out of the house would be better than hanging out with nerds playing fantasy roleplay.

If they do or not I mean.

And to Tar Aldarion, Its Philately not stamp collecting.
And the international stamp collectors greeting, Magyar Posta, or as you are a moderator and I dont know you, I will use the more formal Magyar Porszag.
