    the story of that irish special forces soldier who had his mate tell some bird in the US that he was killed serving in Iraq but it turned out to be alive and well in cork and only a sailor ?

    I've tried googling various things but nothing coming up !

    A similar story to T.E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), who disappeared after his Arabian adventures with WWI, only to appear as Ross and Shaw, also in lesser military roles?

    Yeah, he had a holiday fling with some one in the US, telling her he was special op's or somesuch. She threatened to visit him in Ireland so he had a mate email her, telling her he had been killed in a top secret mission. She came over to grieve (or something) and his ingenious plot fell apart.

    I know that guy well, he was a year or two below me in school. He got pwned, not internet style, but in an actual meaningful and ultimately hilarious way.
