Can some one tell me why there has been no huge announcement from the goverment saying that they have succeded in stopping all hashish supply on the east coast.

    Surely this would warrant news!!!

maybe the whole country is dry.

Surely that's a huge win for the guards, and they would like to announce that?

Oh so basically your friends are having a hard time getting their hands on hash at the moment, so the Government MUST have stopped it all coming into the country?

I don't think so somehow. Theres been no huge reported drugs finds lately (and they would be reported if there was) and I know its available in <snip>, though there does seem to be a drought from what I've heard.

I don't buy, sell or condone the use of drugs btw..drugs are bad mmkay

Egotron3000 notes that many of his human programmers have complained recently about a shortage of THC containing resin.

Egotron3000 notes that these droughts come and go and in no way constitutes a victory in the war on drugs.

Egotron3000 fails to note that this has been the longest "drought" in a 11 of my human years. Over five weeks now and no sign of THC containing resin.

    This is no normal drought.

Not just him and his friends, I've had everyone I know who smokes as well as complete randomers asking me if I can find smoke for the last few weeks. And I'm on the other side of the country to him.

I am NOT a drug dealer and neither do I promote the sale/use of drugs ;)

OP:Why not ring Afghanistan and tell them to get the finger out?The majority of the crap hash that comes into this country is from there so maybe you'd like to try complaining to the source rather than coming on here and moaning that you can't get a quarter.

There doesn't seem to be a problem here in <snip>. The people I know who smoke seem to get it whenever they want it, but as I said before there seems to be an influx of weed and pollen at the moment (or maybe a lot of dealers stopped dealing hash and are getting in this stuff that they know they can make more profit from?) which they seem to be availing of instead, but again, it seems to be there if they want it.

It's the poles/blacks/romanians/spanish students. First they take our jobs, then they take our women and stab us and give us aids and now this.

We were at war? Bah, so much for neutrality.

The war on drugs is a bit pointless, in my opinion. People will get their dirty stinking junkie hands on drugs regardless of how hard the government try to stop them. Banning them just supports the gangs of scumbags who import and distribute the drugs.

Thats a bit simplistic, I know, but I'm just pointing out the futility of it all. Taking drugs is a bit pointless too I spose.

I was gonna post this last week, but thought it was old news.
One of our local rag's lead with this little journalistic gems last weekend:

    Dope drought
    By Sheena Brothers
THE region's recent dry spell has coincided with another form of less welcome drought for Dundalk's cannabis smokers as they experience the most severe shortage of the drug in years.
For well over a month now smokers of the popular yet illegal drug have been unable to score anything but the lowest quality hash and even that has now dried up.
Head of the local drugs unit here in Dundalk, Detective Sergeant, Brian Mohan, puts the dope drought down to a combination of factors.
"It's not something that is specific to Dundalk. It's a national situation. It could be a combination of any number of factors from the conflict in the Middle East and many of the hash producing countries to efforts by dealers in general to change the usual drugs of choice to more expensive options.
"Certainly from our point of view we have been working hard to stem the sale of all drugs in the town and its environs. To this end we have been working with a number of state bodies and community agencies, who have provided invaluable assistance in terms of intelligence on where drugs are being sold, resulting in a number of major seizures of all kinds of drugs."
Speaking to The Dundalk Democrat one regular user of the drug described the situation as "awful".
"Even if you're willing to travel to get it there's still nothing available anywhere and whatever anyone does get their hands on they're keeping for themselves and their regulars."
Another regular hash smoker said: "There's loads of grass around. The town is flooded with it but no-one can afford to buy it. They're doing €50 bags which equates to an evening's smoke to a regular smoker."
Some smokers are finding that giving up smoking hash altogether is the best option while others are seeking alternatives to tide them over the shortage.
"The hash shortage is the best thing that could have happened as far as I'm concerned, because I've given it up altogether," said one long term smoker.
"I was a regular hash smoker for many years but I got fed up of not being able to get it and decided to knock it on the head once and for all.
"It's great. I feel much better in myself and I have a lot more money so it's done me a favour."

Personally it's a pain in the hole, since the weed (seemingly domestically grown) that's moved in to fill the void is both a fair bit more potent and a lot more expensive. A bag lasts me more than a week since I don't smoke too heavily these days, but you can't get stuck into it at all (especially after a good bit to drink) and it leaves you very lethargic the next day.

But on the other hand at least we're not smoking rubber, plastic, shoe polish and god knows what else in the "hashish" that the idiots smuggle into this country.

This shortage is down to a variety of factors: large finds in the right supply chains, summer and a lot of young 'uns driving up demand and the basic economic fact that there's f*ck all money to be made on the stuff in comparison to other drugs where the same jail terms asre the primary risk factor. Things like coflict in hashish producing regions may also be having an effect.
Last thing, I reckon the upsurge of violence in the Irish prison system the last few weeks is partly down to the shortage of this stuff in prison.

maybe a Government announcement on winning the drugs war , might seam a bit hollow , in the same week that a senior Fianna Failer is pictured hoovering up some Charlie , on the front page of the Sunday World.

Ah sure what harm is there in a wee bit of nose candy in the proper surroundings? These guys work so hard and get so badly paid for it, that I'm surprised more of them don't turn to hard drugs...

Worst drought Ive ever came across aswell. Polm and ridiculously expensive weed are all that seems to be around for the regular punter.
Maybe they are making a switch from soap bar to less crap stuff like low grade polm. I reckon increased foreign occupation in afghan and the upsurge of the trouble in lebanon are huge factors, plus the recent absolute destruction of that whole group in meath (what, feckin 11 nicked in a week?) probably played a part.
One way or another, nobody can get hash.

This is a good thing imo. I gave up smoking completely because of only being able to get ****ty soap and find it strange to see people complaining about only being able to get polm and high-grade weed. Hopefully it is starting to become more like the UK market where weed and decent hash are the norm and soapbar is almost unavailable.

I also seem to remember there being a drought around this time every year.

    Yes, yes they can.

Though, I can't imagine why anyone would want to smoke hash while theres so many much better grade weeds in circulation in all fairness.
Maybe you enjoy smoking car tyres?'Cause its common practice in Afghanistan to mix in old car tyres when they're making hash.

Just remember folks, buying hash funds terrorism*

Hardly. Why just the other day I went into a shop and bought 12 cans of beer & some smokes and no-one batted an eyelid.

Aye me and all. Always put it down to an increased demand with schools/college being on holiday.

As for people complaining about the higher grade stuff? It's more the price to weight ratio I think is the complaint...polm is terrible compared to the average decent hash we used get here in terms of what you actually get out of it.
Don't get me wrong, it's a nice buzz but it can be tricky to spread and tends not to stretch as far.
Where's that lovely afghan black that used to be so popular in the mid-90s? :(

Weed I'd have any day over solid...it's the finanical constraints in terms of weights available that I have a slight problem with...I'm probably just spolied being able to buy weighed grams in Holland for a fraction of what they look for a bag here (that are far from weighed and ~3 times as costly).
Oh the other thing about weed....very tough to disguise the smell if that's an issue...
