    The first three digits of a bar codes are assigned by country and "GS1 Prefixes do not provide identification of country of origin for a given product. They simply provide number capacity to different countries for assignment from that location to companies who apply." Fair enough

    But how come we only get 539 but Belgium & Luxembourg get 540 to 549 ??
    Just had a quick look here and can't find athing in the kitchen with a 539 code - loads of UK and others from further afield - even with Barry's teas , Avonemore milk and Siúcra

    Is this a conspiracy or a rip off like the .ie domain names costing more than almost any others ?

    Can anyone find an Irish bar code ?

    practically the only thing I had in my fridge and *bingo!* :D

    It's a 6 pack of yoghurt from Aldi but made in Cork and the barcode is;

    5390053004014

    P.S. they're lovely, tasty, fruity yoghurt :)
