Dubliners may recall it. It was a rather hideous blue and yellow fountain thingy that looked kindof like a colourful snake that jetted water out the top. I don't think it was on O'Connell St for more than a year (1999?), and I can't seem to find any photos of it to educate some others on just what it was...

I remember that, didn't even notice it was gone!
several of the other works of art along the avenue bear bullet holes from former violent times.

Dublin- what a nice place to live!

The "hooer in the sewer" was there for a lot longer than a year. It was covered in suds half the time from kids putting washing-up liquid/shampoo in it.

Erected in 1988 to celebrate Dublins Millennium.

I tink the Op is talking about a piece that was on OConnell street for a few months, was done by a guy call Marcus Thorp (or a sirname like that?) he was one of my sculpture lecturers in College.

I don't have a pic of it, but it now resides in the playground of Herbert Park.

Nicer than Enniscorthy. Besides, what the poster you quoted was referring to was the bulletholes from the 1916 Rising.

@6th: Weclome back to AH. You're not doing the case for Manly Man forums any favours by telling us you do/have done sculpture!

I assumed that, you know the way gun crime has gone lately in Dublin though- there could be more soon!!

Luckily I live in Co. Wicklow, so gun crime isn't an issue. But that's only because nobody ever finds the bodies!

    Manly Man forums

There is a manly man forum? Or do you mean just forums that tend to have more men in them?

No. Both the Floozie and Viagra Falls were in place at the same time at other ends of O' Connell St. Again, this thing was a blue and yellow snake-like fountain.

Anyone near Herbert Park? It's a bit far for me to go to take a picture of it...

Ok got my wonderful wife to go snap a pic while she was having lunch in the park. Like i said the artist was a lecturer of mine.

Hmm.. Can't tell for sure as the piccie is a bit small, but it looks like they added a bit to the top. Does it still jet water?

Not sure, but i know Marcus did a few pieces similar and a few were on OConnell street for a bit.

I remember when that bird thing was on O'Connell street... I definitely don't remember it being a fountain... that one was placed a little bit North of the Spire.

I like the rabbits that are all over the place now... there is even a monkey lurking about.

Viagra Falls was actually one of the many nicknames for the Anna Livia monument though.

It was moved to one of the playgrounds in Herbert Park (not sure if it's still there). It has something at the tip of its beak which suggest it can spray water from it, but I've never seen that happen.
