Backup DVD wont play in new DVD player

Looking for assistance...advice appreciated.
Have used DVD Shrink to backup DVDs and these played no problem on old Tevion VCR/DVD combo, however VCR end gave up so replaced with Funai VCR/DVD Model DBVR 6150. When I try to play some ripped DVDs in this new unit I get error message.."This disk will not playback, please eject".
However some DVDs will play OK.
Any ideas/suggestions/advice?

The player may be fussy about the type of blank media being used. It may be the way you made the disc.

Make sure that the disc surface is clean and free from smudges.

Thanks Byte, all recorded on exact same DVD-R media and thoroughly cleaned a couple.
Think there may be some encryption(?) going on??

Are the DVD's finalised? Ie: closed?

Checked that they are finalized i.e. read only, 0 bytes free.
Exact error is "Disk error - Playback feature may not be available on this disk, please eject".

Even now there is no guarantee that a "blank" DVD will play on all machines, all of the following needs to agree with each other, the blank in question - or the dye on the blank -, the software used and the dvd player.
Your new DVD player is just not compatible with your current back-ups.
Solution is another DVD player, there's nothing wrong with your back-ups.

Your DVD player prob only supports the DVD+R format, not the DVD-R format

Maybe your new player is more picky about regions or ntsc or something? Maybe compare a .vob from a disk that works with one that doesn't with gspot.

Get a proper encoder and ditch dvd shrink.
