Andrew Flintoff has joined England's list of injured Ashes heroes after being booked in for a further ankle operation which will rule him out for the rest of the season.

Already without Ashes winners Michael Vaughan (knee), Simon Jones (back) and Ashley Giles (hip), England must now face up to missing their key all-rounder after a specialist recommended surgery on his troublesome left ankle.

There goes any chance of retaining the Ashes!

    Oh well.....

Well, with an attack of Plunkett, Harmison, Lewis, Mahmood, Dalrymple and Harmison if he could be arsed, I'm sure England were wishing that Flintoff would bowl from both ends!

    Shades of 2002 in this...

bad news alright,on another note i have to question the fitness and training technique in the england set up,i may be clutching at straws but with so many injures i feel it is an issue, plus the amount tests and one dayers that england have played in the last year could have something to do with it
