I asked a Chinese friend of mine this before - he said that phones aren't really any cheaper over there - they're less subsidized than they are here! But in Hong Kong, you can get many models that are simply unavailable elsewhere. However, I've noticed that many phones from there (their own models, that is), are dual-band only.
