Back in the days when I wore hard contact lenses - gas permeables, I don't even know if they still make 'em these days - I wore them for longer than you're e supposed to. I think I had them in for 18 hours, this particular day. Anyway, I was a student, so by the time I got home on this particular occasion, I was plastered. I dutifuly took out my lenses beforeI went to bed and I collapsed into my bed in a booze fuelled coma. About half an hour later I woke up in agony and was writhing round the place, screaming my head off.
Apparently, I had taken off the top layer of skin on my eyeballs when I took out my lenses. My eyes had dried up so much that the lenses were stuck to them, so when I prised the lenses off, a layer of skin came too.
Off to the hospital for anesthetic in the old eyeballs and I was bandaged up for a few days.
    Not a pleasant experience

Playing golf one day and was standing on the fairway when I suddenly found myself rolling around the ground in agony. It turned out that a guy was driving off about 20 yards away from me, he sliced the ball and it hit me full force in the sternum. I felt like I had been shot. Wasnt so much the pain as the shock. Not a plesant feeling. For about a week I had a golf ball shaped imprint in the middle of my chest.

fractured vertebrate, tumour destroyed the bone on the inside (painful enough as it was, slow eroision of bone is f'in nightmare, thought it was a disc problem) bone was basically hollow and caved in on itself hitting the spinal cord and causing a temporary paralysis, outside of that a kick in the nuts.:D

1 chipping my kneecap, fell full force forward on it on a tiled floor, I went nuts with the pain.
2 two ear infections at the same time, like acid sloshing arround my inner ears.
    3 child birth.
    4 Migraine.

Hit my fingernail with a hammer. It went all black. Went to the doctor and he punctured it. All I could feel (as I wasn't looking) was the blood pouring out of it. After a few weeks it fell off. It wasn't the most pleasant sight either.

Had to get a colonoscopy once but the anastethic they gave me wasnt full strength stuff. I became semi-concious half way through and was aware of several yards of camera moving in my Intestines. It was an absolutley horrible feeling. I was trying to scream to let them know I could feel it but couldnt. Thankfully, I nodded off again soon after. Gimps.

I raced early last year and my shin was sore, so I trained the next day, and it had been windy and a tree had fallen in the path in Marlay park, so we hopped over it, I landed on my right leg and felt as if my shin wa about to snap. What had started as a small stress fracture grew to be a 3 inch split down the front of my shin bone. I recovered from that in time to train a bit on our warm weather training camp in Portugal, and on the last day it went again, about a half inch fracture. I recovered from that and got another tiny one. After I recovered from that I got 2 chest infections, and running cross country races with a chest infection is one of the most painful things I've ever experienced, the ice-cold air burning your chest, and being in oxygen debt, along with the infection trying to make you cough your lungs up.

This year I was training great, in the form of my life, one of the biggest races of the season was coming up and I was doing great. The morning of the race I wasn't feeling great, after my warm-up I was advised not to race, but I did anyway, I did crap and fell asleep at a tree after wearing about 7 layers, some people were wearing jackets as in the breeze it was a bit cold. I went out for a friend's birthday that night and left early, the next day I lay on the couch and in the evening I had a pulse of 108 and a temperature of 104 (my resting heart rate is about 44-54) I went to hospital that night and found out I had a throat infection that had gotten into my blood stream and was effectively poisoning me. That wasn't so much physical pain as ****ing annoying, I was in pieces because I had been building up to that race for the previous few months to have it ruined on the morning like that.

I have passed out from cramps before...

oh god, that reminds me of a time myself and a few friends where walking through town it was all guys except for 1 girl, all of a sudden she just falls to the ground and curls up into a ball moaning about cramps. I have never seen such a helpless bunch of guys, the best we could do was lift her to a nearby bench and then just stand there.

The worst pain i've ever felt, was when I stood on a glass bottle in the sea, it cut my foot open which wasn't the worst part, as the salt and sand got into it. I had to go to one of those walk in clinics and get the sand cleaned out. The guy obviously didn't apply the anesthesia right because as he was scraping the sand and grit out with what looked like the tool they use for scraping plaque off your teeth I could feel everything. I almost passed out as some of the cuts where nearly an inch deep into my sole.

Second to that is this weird thing I get when I yawn. Sometimes I yawn for so long that my diaphragm spasms and cramps up because there is no air left in my lungs. It physically drops me to the ground and I feel nauseous for about an hour. I can never enjoy a good yawn anymore.

    Up between......
Getting four stitches put into the top of my head without anaesthetic. Was yucky as you could feel the needle go into one side of the wound, then out and back into the other side.
Ear infection. Like Thaeydal said, like acid in the old noggin.
    Broken ribs.
I also woke up during a colonoscopy, was in cloud cuckoo land, all happy and trippy, then all of a shot there's a red hot poker up my ass and I'm trying to fight my way up off the bed screaming. I think they shot me full of some more stuff cos I blacked out straight away again, thank God.

Well, for some reason anaesthetics always wear off pretty quickly on me and I was at the dentist to have a tooth extracted (Molar, top right-hand side).

So the dentist gives me two shots and says I should be fine, extraction will take five minutes. She begins by attempting to pull the tooth, changes implement and gives another go, picks another implement up and starts using that to lever the tooth, then the pain hits.

So I get another shot and she asks me do I normally bleed a lot during dental procedures. I mumble 'No' and the dental nurse keeps the vaccum going. So for another fifteen minutes the dentist pulls and twists and then I'm feeling the pain again. She tells me she can't give me another jab so soon and she can't stop what she has started either.

So she continues! At this stage she has the dental nurse lock her arms over my head to hold me down, and I can see the sweat on the dentists forehead. Then she stands up, puts her knee on my chest and starts to pull and twist and turn and I'm screaming and the dental nurse is doing her best to keep my head down.

Eventually she gets the tooth out and shows it to me. The damn roots are shaped like a 'U' They curl back up so as she was pulling the tooth up the roots were tearing into my gums and anchoring the tooth in place.

It was agony, I felt like I had stepped back into medieval dentistry. The whole thing took over an hour and I had to take time off work to recover. For some reason the curving of the roots hadn't shown up on the X-ray. The dentist told me she had never experienced anything like that before and said that if that was a regular occrrence she would not be a dentist. Since then I've been extra careful about giving my teeth a good brush and floss!

i have this mad condition with a long latin name that basically means ive got dense teeth. only 1% of the population have it, basically it means it take twice as long for anaesthic to work on me ,bet you can see where this is going :D , yep i ended up getting one of my back teeth out and i could feel everything. never felt such relief in my life when it ended, dentist said i was imaging things cause he injedted five shots into my jaw before he realised what the problem was. gas thing is half way back to my house afterwards the whole left hand side of my face collapsed from the injections, i looked like i had a stroke. i couldnt even feel my ear!. suffice to say now the guy injects me and does another patient to pass the time till it kicks in

About three years ago i was in school and I placed my hand down on the frame of one of those spring-loaded double doors, on the side of the hinges without thinking. The door was open away from me, and it was one of the spring doors. It closed on my middle and ring fingers, and the nails were ripped clean out of the roots, and were just left hanging on at the tip of the finger.

Something simular to this happened to me except it took my finger off! They sowed it back on so it wasn't too bad. At the time tho, it was pretty sore!

Apparently one of the worst forms of pain you can feel when you are stung by a Box Jellyfish, most commonly found off the coast of Australia. When you get stung by one of these bad boys your whole body goes into shock and you gradually go uncouncious. supposedly people are still screaming with the pain while they are still uncouncious:eek:

since birth essentially i've had a horrible problem with my back. there's isn't a day that passes where i don't feel uncomfortable at some point, or even feel full on pain.

but then, sometimes, the "affliction" strikes. i get a blinding pain up and down my spine (source is where the birthmarkish yoke is on my lower back, right on the spine) and then i have to drop to the ground and endure a few minutes of not being able to move because of 1) the pain and 2) the lack of feeling in my legs...

i've been offered no reason for what's going on, and just been given pain killers. i can go under the knife but i refuse since there's a 50/50 chance i'll be shoved into a wheelchair after it. and i aint gonna risk that. if god intended me to be in a wheelchair he would have done the job properly at birth!

I've had cramps so bad that I've vomited with the pain of a spasm ( and found out later after surgery that not only was my entire pelvis peppered with endometrial tissue, I had a Fallopian tube that was speckled with endometrial tissue and the horrid pain I got on that side every month was likely of tissue, expanding monthly--andyes, I got the standard "oh right, you have CRAMPS, that's what women always say when they don't want to come to work") and also had migraines that were truly, truly horrible. Those of you who have had migraines know the difference between a migraine and a simple headache; for those of you who don't, it's like the difference between spraining your ankle and breaking your ankle--the level of pain is just incredibly intense. Migraine is like being kicked in the head and having the feeling of impact last for a few days. Just having a light snapped on can make you sicken with sharp pain.

One of the most painful injuries I have ever recieved was one frigid winter night when I slipped while shutting a car door, accidentally slamming my fingers into the car and being hauled down the icy street a few steps before the driver heard the screaming. I had thin gloves on, but that only made it worse: when I got home I had to peel the gloves off, and my fingernails came with them. Mostly. Pieces of finger nail still stayed on my thumb and index finger, but the root parts were hauled up and peeled off backwards with my glove.

    *cringes at the memory*

PS It was months before my nails grew out straight without weird ripples built right in. Talk about gross......

I had meningitis, it was like being hit on the head with a sledgehammer and then just as the pain was becoming bearable being hit on the head again. Worst few days of my life. Couldn't eat or drink anything, any noise was horrible and light was avoided at all costs.

Got an operation earlier this year on a small growth under my eyelid, although I got drops into my eye, and 2 injections up through my cheek to numb the area, there were two large, very tight steel clamps holding both my eyelids outwards, She said I better not move, or my eye lids will be torn off, She then started to cut the growth out of my eyelid with a scapal. Pretty feckin painfull, worst thing I ever experienced so far.
Also got FOUR teeth taken out in one go, when I was about 14, two baby teeth, two permenant, Got about 10+ injections, none of which had any effect, and the pain was horrendous.

Getting drove over by a car huurt alot, Smashed my face of the ground and my nose somehow didnt get broken though it has a dent on it now and has moved place on my face! it sometime hurts my face and it happened almost a year ago a year in two weeks!! tho didnt help i got hit in the noce by someone, that was quite sore to. Same accident, my leg got driven over the pain from that took away the pain of my nose, couldnt move it, was also lucky t wasnt broken. how i will never know. The pain made me nearly vomit it was so bad.

Period Pains are also really bad, dont ya just hate people that get no pain at all.. Back pain is also horrible, had it along with other muscle pains whien i had pneumonia, couldnt sleep right, barely walk right with the back thing.

Gettin a tube in my stomach 'pulled' out they put anesthetic (SP?) on it but that didnt help, in the end they gave up and cut it say i wouls poop it out. No such luck, next morning woke up coughing, and the next thing i know i cant breathe or anything, ended up couging it up. That was not as bad as them trying to rip it outta me, nearly **** myself tho!! was only bout 12 at time... The thing was bout the size of a lid of a 500ml bottle, but not as thick... The hole in my stomach was bout the size of the tip of my little finger. smaller then a key on the keyboard, half of one! bad at describing things

Think thats everything.... Some of the other stories are awful bad make wat happened me or others seem like nothing!!
