New to broadband in Cork which package?

    Hi All,

I'm confused by the vast array of packages available. I want something that is economical firstly. Value is more important than tech support etc. I don't want a time capped product. I would like to be able to use a wireless router but it's not a dealbreaker if not. I'm not sure what upspeed/downspeed/contention rate we need. There will be three laptops connected. I have idea whatsoever how much I currently D/L on average per month. If possible I would like a flat rate service so we don't end up trying to split the bill - we're renting.

    Any advice would be appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Kaz.

I'm in Ballinlough - not the city end.
There is an eircom phoneline at the moment.
I have permission to install an antennae

Ah Ballinlough just up the Road from me.. Right you have a choice of wireless, Digiweb Metre www.digiweb.ie is great value and i have never had any problems... Smart is out of the Question doesnt cover us.. Choras do a 6mb line for 39.99, But i would go for the Digiweb Metro tbh save you have to get a line connected + line rentals and with metro you get free line rental and a 021 telephone number

No it doesnt make any difference at all. We have a Eircom line connected too. I would go for the Digiweb anyway you can get a 3mb line for 35euro or a 1mb for 19euro.... I have always had full speed on the 3mb package... Also nice people to deal with.

He said that there's already a phone line in the place, so that's not an issue. Kazbah, have you entered the phone number in one of the online line-checkes to see if the line will support DSL?

    He is a she :)

Yes it supports DSL but not Smart telecom.
I was also looking at the 3MB BT Option.
It will be either that or DigiWeb I think.
