IBB - Getting good speed - Has something changed ?

DL Speed : 2.02 Mbps
UL Speed : 1.36 Mbps

I'm in Drogheda.

I spend quite a bit of time in my girlfriend's house, so I haven't been onlline here for a while.

Have they cleaned up their act ?

wow - those DL/UL speeds over wireless?

I heard wireless isn't good for gaming - but still have to ask, is it any good?

Getting tired of my No Limits dial-up. 12 Euros a month for unlimited off-peak + Weekends just doesn't cut it.

Wireless can be quite good for gaming, getting pings as low as 30-50ms in game to UK and Irish servers, but IBB is ****e for gaming, as they're far too unreliable. One month you might get grand pings, the next 3 months you might be on 15-40% packetloss. That's what happened to me.

Over 50% of the time i was with IBB (probably over 70%, but i couldn't be sure) i was getting packetloss above 5%, and over 35% of the time it was over 10%, which is unplayable. Even WoW suffered badly at the hands of an IBB connection. It's mostly because of IBB that i stopped playing CS

Packets: Sent = 267, Received = 266, Lost = 1 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 24ms, Maximum = 31ms, Average = 28ms
Control-Break

EDIT: That lost packet is because of my router. It loses exactly 1 packet every 4 minutes (give or take a few seconds). It's wierd

I have IBB and works fine for me. No packet loss, low pings. Play BF2 on it and get low pings (<20 for irish servers, <30 for UK).

If it works, you'll be fine. The only prob with IBB is that it's hit and miss as to whether you get a good connection or not.

it always starts out good, how long have you ahd the service,
mine decided to fall over after about 4 months.

I've had the 2M Breeze connection for the last 18 months [off Bray]. It was great at the begining and then dropped off considerably. Recently though it has been back to the original speeds - around 1.7mbps down and 1.4mbps up.

I was kicked off the IBB network so maybe thats it... :P

They claim i wasnt receiving signal any longer so had to pull the service.

I'd say its more the 1.5Tb of P2P traffice ive had over the past year.

maybe you should invoke your rights to access *all* of your customer information regarding your account from ibb and find out

i wouldnt know what that would acheive, but it would certainly make them do some more work
