Long-stay travel insurance

Hello All,

I am travelling to NZ in a couple of months for a year.

Does anyone know any good and cheap long-stay travel insurance packages or any good companies?

I will need some hazardous sport cover.

The cheapest i can find is for about €220, with FYI insurance.

ecover and ebookers are cheap enough I think - EBS and a few others do it these days too - I'm heading off for 6 months soon, and www.ecover.com or www.ebookers.com seem to have the best deals.

LOL, me too! If you're going to be doing the adventurous thing make sure that all activities are covered, the best I've found (not cheap though) are the British Mountaineering Council. You gotta become a member though and that adds a few extra quid to the cost as well.

If you have one of the Discount codes you'll get another 10% find someone with with a Student Travel card or

if you go to the student travel card site and book FYI there you will get a better price. I think on this site the pricing includes the discount available with the code.

FYI - Option 3 defintely is good cover at a good price - it has adventure sports and return home due to exams failure etc.

I cant find any insurance company that will cover me for my 2 expensive items (SLR Camera + Laptop). And the fact that I will be away for more than 18 months seems to make it a nightmare to claim for anything. Its looking like im going to go without any sort of Travel insurance. I may stick the SLR and Laptop under the house insurance.

Any ideas?

For covering those 2 items, i'd say you need to be talking to someone in person to cover the excess
