    OK,
Another attempt at geting his T-Maxx running yesterday..

As the engine was spinning it sounded "different"

Was spending a bit of time checking everything when i decided to check the cooling head for tightnes... Picked up the allen key to check the 5 bolts when my son said
When you put that head on last week didnt you say that two of the screws wouldnt tighten?

Well I thought to myself.." Now I know what the strange sound was" Some 14 year old tried to tighten them when i was not with him.... :o

Ah well.. I guess it is well and truly fekked now..
    Deffo needs a new engine...

Right... Decision time, What to buy?

2.5r for his T-Maxx... Or stretch the already choked pocket and buy a 3.3 for me revo and pass on my perfect 2.5r to him..

or maybe someone will suggest another engine altogether? ( NOT BIGBLOCK)
I want a direct drop in replacement that will be
    1) good
    2) reliable
    3) easy to tune
    4) I wont have to upgrade my drivetrain

    5) I KNOW PLUG WILL SAY GO WITH THE 3.3 :D

If I thought for one minute that a crankcase would sort it then I would gladly take it off you.
    But.
I am done with this engine and just want to see the back of it.. Maybe in a week or so i might take it and rebuild this one from the ground up ... Then sell it to my buddy with the tmaxx 1.5 pro.. :D

    LOL :D

Rang the Model shop in Waterford today.

To do the Traxxas ERP these are the prices i was quoted..

    Exchange 2.5 for a new 2.5r= €196 :o

    Exchange 2.5 for a new 3.3 = €224

    Bloody Bandits.. :D

I have a firm bid on a 3.3 in the States at the moment.
lets see how it goes..

    OK,
I am about to give up on bidding so i have looked at this option

Brand New Traxxas REVO 2.5R Racing Engine Complete with New Glow Plug

No clutch...No Flywheel.. No Carb.. £65

Now. I can go for the 3.3 exactly the same gear missing for £100 but at the minute it is a bit out of my range..:(

    OK
I know I have all of those myself but what would the chances be that the Carb on the T-Maxx is faulty?

The thought had crossed my mind but I realised that if I spend too much on it one or two things would happen.
    1) I would be afraid to enjoy it over the expense of it ..:o

    Or
    2) The wife would throw me out.. :D

sorry to interrupt, have just read this hole thread and noticed that it was mentioned a loose back pl8 could alow in air, causing the engine to heat up, is this the pullstart?? my pullstart doesnt tighten flush, and iv noticed the engine gettin v. hot recently, (i've still to tune it, since i decided i would i just havent found the time!!)

If 2) happens well then your rightly fcuked:eek: :D

Oh and no leaf clover they're is a back plate before the pull start so that wont allow air leaks;)
