i used to work in a call centre and i hate f*ckin idiotic b4st4rds like that, if someone calls you and you dont want to talk to them, be polite about it, no need to flip for nothing, the telemarketer or whatever is only doing his job and trying to earn some money, odds are he's probably a student or something.

Bastards from feckin 02 keep ringing me when i'm on the toilet,in the shower or other incredibly inconvenient places.Same with the bank,thier whole sugary tone makes me want to spew and no,i havnt got a moment to ****ing spare you unctuous scumsucker.

I think he was probably polite the first few times they rang - then when they didnt get the message and kept ringing back he flipped the lid. Fair play to him.

If your ringing up people because your trying to sell them something/make money out of them somehow and they havent asked you to ring them up then you have no right to complain about how people react to you disturbing them in their own homes.imo.

fair enough, the place i worked, we would only call someone back if they agreed to it, otherwise they were off our call list

I have a feeling that in many casees that would have been buried in the fine print somewhere - if you honestly asked someone if they want their phone number sold as part of a contact list to telemarketing/telesales companies - the answer would be no.

In this case - the person HAD asked to be removed from their calling list and they didnt do it - possibly as an office prank to get any new hires to ring the poor sod knowing he would flip the lid.

That not true, all phone companies call my house. Companies Buy phone numbers off others as each call is a potential sale

I personally fxckin depside telemarketers, or the peopl in town who come up lookin for money for concern

I jus say "No thanks im already concerned" or That im 15 :P

I used to get called all the time by the likes of Tele2 and similar companies asking if I wanted to change over my home phone service to them. The first few times I was polite with them and said that I wasn't interested, then when they kept calling I asked them to remove me from their lists and to please not call again, which they agreed to do.

However, they obviously didn't bother removing me from their list as they continued to call. One day when I got another one of these calls I decided to try using a classic Jerry Seinfeld line on them.

Caller: "Hello, could I speak to the bill payer please?"

Me: "Yes, speaking."

Caller: "Hi, this is Collette from <insert phone company name here>. I was just wondering if I could have a moment to tell you of the savings you could make on your home phone bill if you were to switch your service to us. For example, if you make a lot of international calls, our rates are considerably cheaper than eircom's."

Me, feigning interest: "Really? Well, that does sound interesting. Unfortunately, you caught me at a bad time as I'm just heading out the door. Tell you what, why don't you give me your home phone number and I can call you later tonight at home and we can talk about it a bit more."

Collette, possibly sensing a stalker on the line or something!: "Well, ummm, I can't really do that you see."

Me: "Oh, and why is that then? Is it because maybe you don't want complete strangers to have your personal number and be calling you all time?"

Collette: "Well, ummm, in all honesty, yes."

Me: "Yeah, well, now you know how I feel!" <hangs up abruptly>

And, believe it or not, I haven't been bothered by them since. Now I use the same tactic with any of the other companies who call me and it seems to have worked pretty well so far.

Yea but the funny thing is, if you act the dick to a telemarketer, chances are they're laughing their holes off at you and marking you down on the "call repeatedly" list.

Well, that Jerry Seinfeld trick seems to have done the opposite for me because they probably all have me marked down as some sort of smart arse now and not worth bothering calling anymore. Don't think I've had a repeat call from any of the companies I've used it on in over 6 months or so now. And I used to get at least one a week from them.

Maybe, but I've been verbally owned like that before when I worked in tech support... and it's not funny in the slightest when you have to stay calm and professional.

Having said that, telemarketers are scum and deserve it... just because it's your job, that doesn't absolve you of any personal responsibility for what you do.
Go find a job that doesn't make the world a worse place to live in.

it because he is paid to do so and he certainly doesnt deserve an answer like that.
I dont think that the person who answered should be really appreciated, but maybe thats just me ...

hehe.... funny clip alright.....

i seem to get inundated with telemarketer type calls at the mo.... normally im nice and say thanks but no thanks... but lately i just ask them to hold on a sec because ive another call on the line and just leave the fone down (on mute) on the desk and go about my day.... generally they hang up after 10 mins, one called back once and i did the same again.. "sorry im still on the same call as earlier" hehe...

Damn right that was funny. And to be honest you can be ever so polite and the fecks will still keep chatting away like they didnt hear anything. So thats when I have to either hang up or turn on the ole charm and tell them to **** off. I did that as work to, it sucks but god bless, let it go when they say no. :P

I live in the land of telemarketers, the good ol' USA. I dont have a landline in and dont intend to either, the mobile will do just fine. The worst thing is recorded messages, at least put a real person talking to me instead of a damn machine.

I'd say those cold callers are only good for perverted types who do the whole heavey brething etc thing on the phone. Saves them having to call anyone themselves and adds a certain spontanaiety to their lurrrve lives. But for the rest of huminitá - urgh. :mad:

Actually, if they are doing that then you've also indicated on some form elsewhere that they may share your data with others. Read what you are signing in future and watch who you are giving your details to.

I think he's saying what a lot of people are feeling, which is why people can relate to it... I know I've felt like that when a previously clean email account starts getting its first few spam emails. :mad:

Like someone else suggested, he was probably polite the first fifty times they rang him... I can't imagine someone snapping like that during their first or second call from these shower of bastards.
I've never 'let someone have it' like he did, I'd be more reserved about it like yourself, but a part of me would absolutely love to let rip on someone who's píssing me off... it'd probably be more healthy than bottling it up for years, then one day snapping and killing someone for skipping you in the que at the bank. :eek:

Except I used to get them on a number that never got given to anyone on any sort of form. It was, however, in the phone directory, and most of the cold calling came from the States. The rest were all market research surveys.

I went ex-directory and the problem has gone away.

I can only assume therefore, that being listed at all is dangerous if you want to avoid being cold-called. My mother is constantly getting calls from the UK. Clearly some people must be responding positively to them, otherwise they wouldn't waste their time and money paying people to do it.

No one really likes telemarketers but they are just doing their job, no one deserves to be treated like that.

A job that they chose to apply for, chose to take, choose to do every day and continue to do long after they've realised it písses people off.
I refuse to believe telemarketing is the only job someone could possibly get in any given situation.
And if a crappy entry-level paycheck is enough to clear their conscience after the reactions they hear, then they're total prícks in my book.

no one deserves to be treated like that.

If the clip is anything to go by and they pushed this guy to breaking point... what does that tell you about the way he was treated?
If one screaming "fúck off" response is enough of a wake up call for an individual telemarketer to see what he's collectively a part of... then I think it's bile well spent.
