What exactly is the problem with the camera?
    You've tried the reset button,etc?

Have you tried sourcing the part from eBay?

There are a number of places on-line that sell VAIO compatible parts, but I cannot think of one that sells the camera.
(With any luck it's a software issue: ) Did you follow the reset instructions in the manual? Has the Library&Utils package been re-installed? Has a System Restore or Recovery been tried? Have you checked www.vaio-link.com for updates?
I'll try looking through some old bookmarks & see if I can find somewhere that sells the camera. Keep chancing eBay (.com)

Try over @ TR World: http://siliconpopculture.com/sonytr/

Its the best website for any of the TR series.

Also the Sony drivers page may help:

Is it the original installation of windows, or have you reinstalled it?

I have the same laptop (slightly upgraded!) and had a few troubles after a fresh install, but its sorted now.

thanks karoma for your help on this, its definitely not a software issue, there is a guy here in galway "pc-gp"and he took a look at it and has re installed the software etc and told me that the camera is def the problem with it and it needs replacing, but he contacted his suppliers re the camera but had no luck in sourcing one
