I've said this already but I'm not sure that this is the right frequency. Everyone I've played it for has been able to hear it, some in their late 30's.
    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5434687
Inventor Howard Stapleton, creator of the Mosquito teen repellent, says only a few people over age 30 can hear the Mosquito's sound.

Is this ringtone just a gimmick? Anyone know what the real "Mosquito" frequency plays at? Is the ringtone playing at the same frequency?

annoying and I would say quite painful if you listened too long. Hope no scumbag decides to play this non-stop on a crowded bus.

How long before we have advertisements that parents cant hear? " hey kids, dont you want a Furby? if mommy says no, ask daddy, if he says no then they dont love you anymore"

or worse, TV with completely different dialogue for kids and grownups :)

That's the weird thing, even though I'm an old wrinkly at 49, I can hear up to 19/20kHz on this test, but can't hear the original ringtone at all, even though when I've converted it to a WAV file and run it through a spectrum analyzer the high frequency peak is only at 15kHz, which I can hear quite clearly on the other site.

Here's the graphic of the frequency analysis, the red line's at 15kHz.

I heard it fine, it just sounds like an old tv humming.

I heard it. While we are on the subject is it just me or can any of you tell if a tv is on even if your not in the room and it's muted?

    Example.

I came home from the pub the other night (not drunk) i could hear my tv upstairs in my room. Now it was on AV1 and it was muted but i could hear the same sort of sound as the one the op posted.

Yep i get this too maybe we have super powers and our role in life is to fight energy crime and go around to peoples houses and switch any electrical goods they have on off.... well that is when they arent in, not using them or just being plain lazy.

I'm 24 and can hear the tone perfectly well though it does create a pressure in my ears too.

On the other pitch test I can hear up to 18khz, after that I can't hear it but I can feel the pressure of it on my ears.

16 and can't hear it! Should I be worried? Thought I felt something when I first opened it though. Can always hear the high pitched noises from TV's. Sometimes I hear high pitched noises at random times which gradually get louder and then fade away.

Edit: Turned up the volume and I can hear it now! Such an eejit! :p

Won't someone think of the baby!

I maxed out about 20kHz (problems with files after that!), but found 18kHz quieter than the rest.
